The Northern Adriatic Port Authority today published a strategic public tender procedure for the development of high-end yachting in Venice. The measure provides for the awarding of a ten-year state maritime concession, with a nominal annual fee of €558.934, aimed at enhancing services for large vessels and strengthening the lagoon port's international positioning in a very high-value market.

The concession system integrates bodies of water and related infrastructure at three key hubs in the city. The first lot comprises the Punta della Dogana area, which includes the Briccole Park and a body of water measuring approximately 9.250 square meters in the Giudecca Canal, located in front of the dock itself and the Magazzini del Sale. The second lot comprises the Banchina San Biagio, a landing stage along the San Marco Canal extending over 96 meters. Finally, the tender includes the "Ex Adriatica" pier at the Zattere, a 112-meter facility located on the north bank of the Giudecca Canal, plus three associated parking spaces.

The evaluation of the proposals, entrusted to a commission appointed by the authority, will be conducted through a comparative review of the applications in accordance with the Navigation Code. Scores will reward industrial quality, sustainability, and the economic impact on the region through five key parameters. The first factor concerns the expected traffic volumes over the decade, assessing the ability to deseasonalize dockings year-round and the quality of services provided at the dock, such as water, connectivity, electricity, and transfers. Significant weight will be given to infrastructure and technological investments focused on energy efficiency, environmental sustainability, and safety procedures. The commissions will analyze international marketing strategies designed to promote the port and lagoon's offerings, as well as partnerships with universities, research centers, and technical institutions to promote training. Finally, the commission will evaluate employment plans for the hiring of qualified personnel and the creation of stable jobs for the entire duration of the concession. Bids must be submitted by sector operators within 60 days of today.

According to the President of the Port System Authority, Matteo Gasparato, the yachting sector represents a concrete opportunity for economic and employment development for Venice, capable of generating high and very high value-added activities, from shipbuilding to boat storage, to specialized services. The President also noted that the success of the Venice Boat Show confirms the city's strong international appeal, explaining that this measure aims to enhance strategic infrastructure with a sustainable and cutting-edge perspective. This is also the context for the recent agreement signed with the City of Venice and the Lagoon Authority for the development of the North Arsenal and the Marani pier: this agreement confirms the shared desire to make Venice a hub for luxury yachting and its production chains.
