Axopar launches the new 38 and introduces the NFC digital passport as standard
The new platform is also suitable as a high-performance tender with a tri-generation hull, modular layout and digital identity certified on blockchain

Düsseldorf (Germany) – The new Axopar 38, presented at boot Düsseldorf, is a technical platform designed for owners seeking performance, operational autonomy, and flexibility of use, also intended as a luxury tender supporting high-end yachts. The project from the Finnish shipyard Axopar is a direct evolution of the 37 series, sharing its layout and operational philosophy, but with a complete overhaul of the hull, weight, and spatial distribution. The result is a vessel that combines the characteristics of a fast service vessel with comfort and finish standards compatible with use as the main tender for larger vessels.
The engineering foundation is a next-generation hull designed to work with the sea rather than against it, a solution that translates into stability and trim predictability across a wide range of conditions. Operationally, the efficient cruising window is unusually wide: fuel consumption remains constant between 20 and 30 knots, while the maximum speed approaches 50 knots and the fast cruising speed can reach 38 knots with limited increase in consumption. Structural rigidity derives from a system of oversized stringers optimized for strength-to-weight ratio, combined with specifically developed soundproofing solutions to reduce vibration and noise during extended cruises.
“My sincere belief,” says founding partner Jan-Erik Viitala, “is that the new Axopar 38 range is one of the best-handling boats in the world. A lot of effort and knowledge has gone into making this possible. The exceptional handling is the result of thousands of hours on the water, perfecting the way the boat enters waves, maintains speed, and stabilizes when turning. It's not about pure speed; it's about control, balance, and the uncompromising connection between the driver and the water that gives that feeling of confidence the moment your hands touch the helm. When a boat behaves exactly as you expect, that's when sailing becomes truly enjoyable.”
The modular configuration is one of the elements that make the 38 suitable for the role of luxury tender. Each area can be configured according to the mission: guest transfer, diving support, onboard logistics, or independent excursions. The bow can be furnished with forward-facing seating, a convertible U-shaped sofa, or a fixed sundeck; the forward cabin increases internal height and brightness thanks to multiple skylights and side doors; the galley module integrates technical spaces normally absent on vessels of this class; the wheelhouse has been redesigned with variable layouts and reversible seating; and at the stern, foldable platforms expand the usable surface for operations or leisure activities. All this with capacity for up to twelve people distributed across four communicating areas. The vessel's autonomy is supported by an 830-liter fuel tank and an efficiency that allows for long transfers without frequent refueling, an important factor for those using the vessel as a shuttle between port, anchorage, and the mother ship. The nautical dimension is accompanied by digital innovation that aims to simplify management and ownership. The model introduces the Digital Product Passport, a system based on NFC chips and blockchain registers developed with the Aura Blockchain Consortium. Each boat receives a unique digital identity containing certified data on specifications, factory features, warranties, maintenance, and ownership transfers. Companies already adopting this infrastructure include groups such as LVMH and Mercedes-Benz, a sign of a transfer of technological standards from the world of luxury and automotive to the nautical sector.
"We believe that ownership," explains Product Manager Simo Soini, "should be a relationship, not a transaction. Our customers deserve absolute certainty about what they own and knowledge of the boat's history. With the Axopar Digital Product Passport, we're not just adding a new technological feature; we're setting a new global benchmark for transparency in the nautical industry." Starting in the first quarter of 2026, the system will be installed as standard on all new Axopar vessels and will allow immediate access to data via scanning, service requests, and certified transfer of ownership. This means documentation always available on board, technical traceability, and higher residual value on the secondary market.
