Mangusta presented the new GranSport 38
Double asymmetric architecture, composite hull and Volvo Penta IPS four-engine propulsion: the specifications to maximize volumes and hydrodynamic efficiency.

Mangusta introduces the new 38-meter Mangusta GranSport, a vessel that embodies the shipyard's 'Sport Utility Yacht' concept, combining performance, interior space, structural modularity, and flexibility of use.
Previewed at the ongoing Miami International Boat Show, the Mangusta GranSport 38 is a brand new project. According to a press release, the yacht features a new spatial architecture that updates and streamlines the guidelines that characterize the GranSport range.
The vessel is designed to meet the needs of an international clientele seeking an optimal balance between performance, range, hydrodynamic efficiency, and onboard comfort, integrating a sporty profile and operating volumes.
Built from composite materials at the Viareggio shipyard, the new GranSport 38 complements the shipyard's current fleet. Operational efficiency, in terms of reduced fuel consumption, emissions, and vibrations, is ensured by the implementation of a Volvo Penta IPS propulsion system.
The model's key structural feature is the optimization of living space, achieved through a double-asymmetric layout spanning two decks: the main deck features an exterior walkway located exclusively on the port side, while the upper deck features an exterior walkway only on the starboard side. This architectural solution maximizes interior space while maintaining the vessel's sporty, streamlined profile.
The management of perspectives and onboard circulation, the shipyard continues, was designed to give each area of the hull a specific identity and functionality. "Every line and opening is designed to optimize the view of the exterior and the relationship between the different spaces."
The spatial organization is based on the principle of continuity between interior and exterior: a fluidity achieved by minimizing structural bulk and maximizing the use of large glass surfaces, ensuring an uninterrupted visual connection with the sea horizon.
The layout is designed to facilitate transit between the covered and open-air areas, functionally balancing spaces intended for socializing with those reserved for privacy.
On the main deck, the absence of the starboard side walkway allows for the main salon to be extended, bringing the living area flush with the bulwarks. The main salon is designed with continuous floor-to-ceiling windows that maximize natural light and visual openness both along the sides and towards the aft cockpit.
The master cabin, also located on the main deck, uses the entire width of the hull, offering a direct view of the exterior, in keeping with the general architectural layout.
The upper deck follows the same structural logic, with a mirrored asymmetry compared to the main deck, further increasing the usable interior volumes and the connection with the outdoor areas. In this area, the use of integrated structural glazing, known as "glazed powerhouses," "become true elements of sporty design, capable of defining the atmosphere and dissolving physical boundaries in a harmonious balance of volumes, surfaces, and light."
Social areas on the upper deck include the upper salon, an alfresco dining area, and the signature infinity pool forward.
The sun deck is configured as a private area intended for relaxation, designed to ensure the maximum level of discretion from the rest of the vessel.
The aft layout features a two-level beach club, designed to increase the flow of movement. The full-beam cockpit on the main deck, furnished with a wet bar and two C-shaped sofas, is connected by a central staircase to the aft platform, which features two sundecks with ample built-in storage. The floor space in this area can be expanded thanks to two fold-down side terraces and an aft "transformer" system. The side-opening garage is sized to accommodate a tender up to 5,5 meters in length and two jet skis.
The GranSport 38's interior layout accommodates 12 guests in 5 cabins, while the crew area includes 4 cabins for 7 crew members. The interior design bears the exclusive signature of Alberto Mancini.
The shipyard confirms its tailor-made approach, offering owners the opportunity to actively influence the creative process to adapt the vessel to their specific operational and usage needs. Customization covers the entire spectrum of the interior, from partial layout reorganization to the selection of materials and detailed finishes.
From an engineering perspective, the yacht is powered by the Volvo Penta IPS Professional platform, configured with four 1000 HP Volvo Penta D13 engines coupled to two propulsion pods. This technical solution allows for a compact engine room, maximizing living space.
The new Mangusta GranSport 38, concludes the shipyard's note, has a maximum speed of 20 knots, a cruising speed of 18 knots and an estimated operational range of up to 600 nautical miles.
