Cantiere delle Marche announces the keel laying of the Raw 110. The owner speaks.
The Ancona-based builder celebrated the start of construction of the new yacht designed by Giorgio Cassetta's studio.

Cantiere delle Marche laid the keel of the first Raw 110 during a private event at the shipyard. The yacht was purchased by a client in his fifties, who is not a first-time owner. For Vasco Buonpensiere, co-founder and CEO of Cantiere delle Marche, "the goal is not to dazzle with flashy features, but to create designs that are true to their mission: ensuring comfortable and safe long-distance travel. Raw is the full expression of this philosophy, a project born from our tireless commitment to the evolution of yacht design. We are not satisfied with success; we always move forward, seeking new solutions and blazing new trails."
Below we publish the interview conducted by the shipyard itself with the owner regarding his sailing habits and reasons for choosing this model.
Have you always had a passion for the sea? .
"Surprisingly, no. I haven't always been a lover of the sea. Only as an adult did I develop a real interest in sailing. My first love, in fact, has always been the mountains: I've always loved mountain sports, both winter and summer.".
So what sparked your love for the sea?
“I have my wife to thank. About twenty years ago, it was she who introduced me to the joys of life at sea. That discovery changed everything for me: it opened up a whole new world of adventures.”
What was your first boat?
"We started with a vintage gozzo, a classic Ligurian fishing boat in excellent condition. We used it to explore the beautiful coasts of the northern Tyrrhenian Sea."
Did the family share your enthusiasm?
"Absolutely. As our family grew, so did our passion for the sea. We started taking our three children with us, and it soon became clear that we needed a bigger boat."
And what happened next?
“Our first real yacht was a Bluegame 60. It allowed us to cruise comfortably in the Mediterranean. But, over time, even that began to feel cramped, so we switched to our first Bluegame 73, a sporty yet spacious yacht, perfect for summer holidays with the whole family.”
Over time, how has your approach to sailing changed?
"I began to place less importance on speed and more value on quality time spent with family and friends. I learned to appreciate long journeys, leisurely swims, water sports, and, above all, relaxation. But there was still one thing missing: my bike."
Are you a cyclist?
"Yes, I'm a passionate cyclist and once owned a professional cycling team. I've always dreamed of exploring the coasts by bike, even on vacation."
What led you to choose a yacht built by Cantiere delle Marche?
"After years of sailing, I knew I wanted a boat that would allow us to go further, in any season. The Mediterranean wasn't enough for us anymore; we were ready to explore further. I came across CDM's Darwin Class explorer yachts and was impressed by their uncompromising design and the shipyard's reputation as an industry leader.
Did the whole family agree with this choice?
“Well, I was immediately attracted by the sturdy design, while my wife was less enthusiastic about the somewhat 'Spartan' look. However, I had complete confidence in Cdm. The only question was which model to choose.”
How did he get involved in the development of the yacht?
“I visited the Ancona shipyard while they were developing a new model with designer Giorgio M. Cassetta. It was the perfect moment, as many aspects were still being finalized. I was able to request several customizations to adapt the yacht to our family's lifestyle. We wanted a yacht that reflected who we are: an active, young, and sporty family. Raw was the perfect choice: large and comfortable, yet unconventional. At approximately 30 meters in length, she represents the ideal balance between space, comfort, range, and maneuverability.”
Why was maneuverability such an important factor?
Any larger boat would have made it difficult to enter bays and harbors. Larger yachts bring more complexity. I don't want to deal with those problems.
What features were essential for you in this yacht?
"Large living spaces, a seamless connection between interior and exterior, and, above all, technical reliability. I also appreciated the fresh aesthetic created by Cassetta, with whom we immediately established a great rapport. I requested a large tender, ample storage space for toys in the bow, and a dedicated bicycle storage area on the aft beach area, enclosed by bulwarks."
So can he ride his bike on cruises too?
“Exactly. Having bikes on board means we can explore the coast on two wheels, even while we're at sea. It's the best of both worlds.”
Have you already planned trips to distant destinations?
“Nothing definitive yet, but I'm sure we'll make the most of the yacht's potential in terms of autonomy and reliability, reaching distant lands, exploring remote and uncontaminated areas, places we'd only dreamed of reaching by boat until now.”
