Genoa - Enteron debuted at the Genoa Boat Show as a new solution distributed by Saim Marine for wastewater treatment onboard sailing and motorboats. Manufactured in Germany, the system allows for the direct purification of black and grey water, rendering it aseptic and therefore dischargeable into the sea without the need for land-based systems.

This treatment is based on a biocompatible technology that eliminates bacterial load without the use of chemicals, ensuring a reduced environmental impact. Enteron is the most compact certified system on the market and complies with IMO/MED 2014/90/EU, IMO/MARPOL, and MEPC regulations, which are essential for environmental protection in the nautical sector.

The purification process occurs in several stages: the solid particles are collected in a first container, then the bacterial load is biologically treated in a second, and finally the residue passes into a third tank where it undergoes further treatment to become completely aseptic.

Two models are available, with 12 or 24 V power supply: the Enteron 50, measuring 150 x 60 x 55 cm and weighing 50 kg, is suitable for boats with two to four people on board; and the larger Enteron 80 (150 x 100 x 55 cm, 75 kg), recommended for crews of four to six. Both guarantee a daily flush capacity of 50 and 80 liters, respectively. The system can also be retrofitted and customized to suit different boat configurations, using existing tanks.

Installation is quick and easy, while maintenance is low-cost. Enteron features an automatic drain, but can be manually operated in the event of overload or prolonged inactivity. Thanks to its low energy consumption—about 17 Ah per day at 12 V for two people—it can be powered by solar panels or wind generators, connected directly to the onboard battery.
