Sanlorenzo unveils its flagship 74Steel and announces its launch
Luxury and diesel-electric innovation meet in this mega yacht of which three units have already been sold and a fourth is under negotiation

Sanlorenzo has announced the imminent launch of its new flagship, the 74Steel, the vessel that, with its 74 meters overall length and approximately 1.900 GT, is not only the largest yacht ever built by Sanlorenzo, but also an icon that blends advanced technology, tailored customization, and understated elegance.
The model has already met with great success—as demonstrated by the sale of three yachts and the ongoing negotiations for a fourth, even before the first has touched water—thanks to the brand's distinctive "made-to-measure philosophy." Although the platform is designed for an overall length of 72 meters, Sanlorenzo explains, all current orders have slightly different lengths depending on the bow shape. Furthermore, the first two units have a diesel-electric propulsion system, while the third has a conventional shaft drive. This flexible approach ensures that each yacht can evolve according to the owner's needs while maintaining a proven structure.
Going into the design specifications of the 74Steel: the vessel is built with a steel hull and an aluminum superstructure, developed on a pre-engineered technical platform that allows for high configuration flexibility.
In terms of design, the exterior lines, designed by Zuccon International Project, combine soft, sinuous forms with a powerful aesthetic, evolving the Roman studio's stylistic language to an unprecedented scale. The interiors of this first unit, designed by Francesco Paszkowski in collaboration with Margherita Casprini, reflect the exterior with furniture and carpets featuring pronounced curves. Preferred materials include matte wood finishes and eclectic marbles, with each ensuite featuring a different variety of marble.
Regarding the beach club and spa: the spaciousness of their areas is a strong point, made possible by the diesel-electric propulsion system that frees up technical space. The beach club extends to approximately 290 m² at sea level thanks to the retractable stern door and folding bulwarks. The wellness area includes a gym, massage room, sauna, hammam, and pool.
The owner's deck is the heart of the yacht, a private haven spanning 130 square meters of dedicated interior space, complemented by exclusive outdoor areas. The suite includes a private living room, office, large walk-in closet, two spa-like bathrooms, and a private forward terrace with a whirlpool tub.
The main deck hosts five guest suites (two doubles, two twins and a full-beam VIP suite with a separate living room), as well as a 130m2 salon and dining area, both featuring sliding glass doors on both sides.
The sun deck features an al fresco dining area, a bar/kitchen, a lounge with a fire pit, a second hot tub forward, and a transparent glass windbreak under the hardtop. The main pool aft of the main deck has a glass bottom that illuminates the beach club below.
The bridge deck houses the 56 m² wheelhouse with integrated Team Italia bridge (part of the Rolls-Royce group), the captain's cabin and a possible touch-and-go helipad at the bow.
The first two 74Steel units feature an advanced diesel-electric propulsion system, configured in collaboration with Siemens Energy, to maximize efficiency and reliability. The propulsion system features six Volvo Penta-Mase variable-speed generators driving two 1.000 kW Schottel E-Pods. The hybrid configuration includes liquid-cooled Lehmann Cobra battery systems using lithium iron phosphate cell technology, offering a combined capacity of 1,5 MWh. This redundancy ensures the continuity of essential functions.
The HVAC system uses Variable Air Volume technology for precise, quiet and efficient thermal control throughout the yacht.
The lower deck houses a professional galley, a crew dinette, and two garages amidships for a 10-meter Pascoe Limo tender, the service tender, and water toys. The crew has 11 cabins (plus a twelfth cabin/sick bay) on the lower deck, and two dedicated stairways from the lower deck to the bridge deck. The tank deck is used for storage, crew quarters, a cold room/freezer, and, upon request, even includes a hydroponic growing area.
The group's president and CEO, Massimo Perotti, reiterated that the 74Steel is the "absolute pinnacle of our steel range," emphasizing that the project redefines the concept of grandeur, "freeing it from the idea of excess," applying the same refinement and precision that are distinctive of Sanlorenzo to this new size category.
