Neuron – Azimut yachts

The Azimut shipyard has announced the introduction of Neuron, a fully digital system that aims to redefine the navigation experience, making it more intuitive, immediate, and safe. With this system, "the owner is at the center of a technological experience that prioritizes simplicity and efficiency," according to a statement.

Neuron is a new digital electrical system developed by Azimut Technical Development in partnership with Mdp Tech, designed for smarter yacht management. A technological innovation at the service of the owner: 'yachtmotics'', diagnostics and surveillance become controllable both via app and remotely, concretely improving life on board.

Thanks to Neuron, the owner can benefit from an advanced home automation system, which, with a customizable interface, allows both the control of various systems and remote analysis of the vessel. For example, lighting, climate control, and entertainment systems can be fully managed, both on board and remotely.

Furthermore, remote monitoring and diagnostics are possible with constant control, reducing routine and extraordinary maintenance by 70%. Additionally, upon customer request, the system offers a smart assistance service that allows after-sales technicians (while fully respecting their privacy) to directly access the system to perform precise and timely diagnoses, minimizing response times. For example, if the owner needs to update the entertainment system or encounters a malfunction, activating remote support would allow immediate assistance, avoiding the need for in-person intervention.

Azimut also explains that reliability and responsiveness are also guaranteed by a design approach based on a thorough risk analysis, which allows the system to minimize disruptions due to potential failures, both at sea and on land. The system itself is designed with a plug-and-play logic, allowing for the rapid replacement of individual components—starting with the control units—making interventions quick and effective.

The indirect benefits are also evident. The first and most immediate, according to the shipyard, is the 50% reduction in wiring weight, which significantly optimizes technical space and frees up space on board for other functions. Furthermore, thanks to the sophisticated power management system, electricity consumption is precisely adjusted based on actual needs, minimizing any waste. Finally, by simplifying the electrical system's organization, the system increases the vessel's overall reliability.

"Neuron is a system that offers a high level of innovation. But it's a useful, practical innovation, not an end in itself. Neuron truly improves the owner's life, who not only can monitor their vessel from home, directly manage certain systems with great ease, but can also perform diagnostic tests, reducing unscheduled maintenance. And, at the same time, it allows us as a shipyard to offer an even more reliable product. All this allows us to offer the owner a more peaceful and happier onboard experience," comments Ruggero Gandolfi, Technical Director of Azimut.

Neuron has completed a testing phase lasting over six months on an Azimut Fly 53 and is about to enter the final verification and testing phase to become the new standard for Azimut boats up to 80' in the near future.
