ABB, 3,2 mW fuel cell on board the Feadship Breakthrough

ABB has integrated a full range of technologies aboard the Feadship Breakthrough, a 118,8-meter megayacht launched by the Dutch shipyard last May. The scope of supply includes the Onboard DC Grid power platform with two 3,2 mW Azipod propulsion units. The Power Energy Management System (PEMS) optimizes onboard energy use and the solution, while Ability Marine Pilot Control ensures seamless transitions between joystick control and dynamic positioning, simplifying docking. ABB also provided shore connection technology and remote diagnostics services.

The 3 mW hydrogen fuel cell system can generate enough energy to power the yacht's services and amenities with emission-free hydrogen energy. It can also provide enough power to ensure up to a week of silent operation at anchor or cruising at 10 knots while maneuvering in port or navigating marine protected areas.
