Giangrasso announces start of construction of second 24-meter and reveals new projects
An owner has already set his sights on the project for a revolutionary 65-metre yacht with an indoor swimming pool

Viareggio The Giangrasso shipyard is experiencing a very dynamic phase, with the start of construction on new vessels and ambitious projects in advanced stages. Just a few months after the launch and delivery of its first G24 (an event postponed due to significant modifications requested by the owner to the interior layout), the shipyard announces the start of construction on the second G24-meter vessel, which is already in the final sales phase. During this exciting phase, Bartolomeo Giangrasso, founder and CEO of the shipyard, also revealed to SUPER YACHT 24 the progress of negotiations for a 34-meter vessel, which he gave an exclusive preview to our newspaper, and unveiled the ambitious project for a 65-meter vessel, which has already attracted the attention of a prospective owner.
Dr. Giangrasso, let's start with your second yacht, the G24: can you describe the initial construction phases and what distinctive features it will have compared to standard production models?
We recently completed the keel laying, a key moment that marks the start of construction. Specifically, we laid the platform and the engine room block, essentially the vessel's first structural block. This vessel, like the first 24-meter vessel under construction, will be built to Marshall Island commercial standards, in accordance with the agreement we signed with Ocean Independence for all our new 24-, 30-, and 34-meter vessels. Opting to comply with stringent international "full commercial" standards like this means aiming for excellence and equipping even a 24-meter vessel with the characteristics of a true ship, which go far beyond the requirements of standard CE certification.
This choice requires particularly stringent technical specifications, especially for the engine room, which, unlike a traditional pleasure craft, is constructed entirely of steel and cupronickel piping, without the use of plastic or fiberglass. This detail extends delivery times by approximately 40-45 days, but guarantees superior levels of safety, durability, and charter compliance. All our current clients for these vessels—the two 24-meter vessels and one 34-meter vessel—are from Ocean Independence.”
What stage is your first G34 at and what features does the project have?
We are finalizing negotiations for this yacht, the design of which, by Studio Arabbiato, has already begun. The new 34-meter vessel will follow the classic style that also distinguishes the 24-meter vessel. It will be a full-displacement vessel, with a steel hull and aluminum superstructure. One of its most notable features will be its beam: a full 8,30 meters, which translates into significant interior volumes: we estimate a gross tonnage of approximately 297 GT, just under the 300 GT threshold for reasons related to MARPOL regulations. This particularly generous volume, which is normally found on larger vessels of approximately 37 meters, was achieved thanks to its above-average beam. The three-deck superyacht, with exterior design by Federico Romani, features five cabins for up to 10 guests, with the owner's suite on the main deck, which includes a swimming pool aft, and accommodations for a crew of six, with the captain's cabin on the upper deck. connected to the wheelhouse."
Are there any plans to build even larger superyachts in the pipeline?
"We are currently negotiating projects for even larger vessels, including a 45-meter and a 65-meter. The 65-meter project, in particular, promises to be revolutionary, with a deck entirely dedicated to the owner and the exclusive feature of a private pool in the master cabin, a solution currently unique on the market."
Do you have any further expansion plans to increase production capacity?
The production capacity of our Viareggio-based shipyard has already expanded with the recent acquisition of new warehouses in the Navicelli area of Pisa, where we expect to be operational by the end of October. These new spaces will be dedicated to the construction of the metal parts (hull and superstructure) for yachts up to 45 meters, while the final fitting out of the yachts will continue to be carried out in Viareggio to optimize production processes while maintaining the craftsmanship that distinguishes us. For the construction of yachts of this size and larger, we are still seeking new outdoor areas in Tuscany.
