Superyachts in Gallura and Costa Smeralda grew by 16% in June
Current data indicates a potential new record season for the Sardinian tourist area. In just one month, 960 high-end pleasure craft were recorded (+135 compared to the same month in 2024).

The Gallura coast, including the Costa Smeralda, remains a prime destination for luxury yachting. In June 2025 alone, a significant 16,4% increase in the number of unique superyachts was recorded compared to the same period the previous year. The data, compiled by the Cipnes Gallura research center in collaboration with the Northern Sardinia Maritime Directorate, revealed the presence of 960 unique superyachts, a full 135 more units than the 825 in June 2024.
This growth consolidates Gallura's strategic role as a leading Mediterranean destination for high-end yachting.
In addition to the number of unique superyachts, the study found 3.465 total presences in the area, considering the different landing points visited by each vessel. The map of the most frequented destinations confirms a dense distribution along the coast: La Maddalena leads with 779 presences, followed by Costa Smeralda (710), Porto Rotondo (592), Santa Teresa (487), Tavolara (343), Olbia (297) and Cannigione (257).
The study, conducted through the analysis of AIS data, Coast Guard sources, and advanced monitoring systems, highlights the high mobility of superyachts, with an average of approximately 3,6 locations visited for each vessel.
These numbers herald a potential new record season for Gallura's blue economy. Already in 2024, the full report recorded 4.600 superyachts between June and September, generating an estimated economic impact of €4 million per day on the related industries of port services, refitting, procurement, catering, and logistics. The June 2025 trend suggests a further strengthening of these benefits.
The positive trend is not limited to the yachting sector alone. Other significant data, reports Il Sole 24 Ore , come "from the Spiritu Santu waste treatment plant, which recorded an all-time record with 3.200 tons of incoming waste in June, a 25,5% increase compared to the same period in 2024. This increase is directly correlated with an increased tourist presence throughout the northeastern area of the island. Furthermore, the Cipnes analysis, based on official data from Sardegna Mobilità, reveals that in the first 15 days of June 2025, 268.668 passengers arrived at the ports of Olbia and Golfo Aranci and at Olbia Airport, compared to 226.904 in the same period of the previous year. This 18,4% increase represents one of the highest ever recorded in the first half of the month."
The full 2025 study, Cipnes informs, will be presented at the end of the summer season, with the aim of providing a detailed analytical tool, useful for public bodies, economic operators, and international investors, to support the future development of Gallura as a hub of excellence in international nautical tourism.
