The Isyl Foundation presented its new 2025-2027 activity plan in Livorno.
The city of Livorno will host the training courses for Deck Officer 2 and Logistics Technician

The ITS Academy Isyl Foundation, a training center for sustainable mobility and logistics, officially presented its new business plan for the two-year period 2025-2027 in Livorno.
Funded by the Tuscany Region as part of the 2021-2027 Tuscany Regional Development Fund (PR Toscana FSE+) program, the plan calls for the launch of new ITS courses, the expansion of collaborations with the manufacturing and institutional systems, and the evolution of the educational offering in the Tuscan nautical district. The program, which aims to involve businesses, institutions, schools, and young graduates, will also be presented in Pisa on July 10th and in Viareggio on July 14th, cities that, along with Livorno, are strategic for the sector and will host the training courses.
The Isyl Foundation's training offerings, as explained in a press release, are the result of close collaboration with key stakeholders in the relevant sectors, actively involving the manufacturing sector in identifying the most sought-after professional profiles. The new ITS courses aim to train highly specialized professionals, meeting the needs for expertise, innovation, and internationalization.
In Livorno, the event "Navigating Innovation: Training and Maritime Professions of the Future" featured the presentation of two regionally specific courses: the three-year course for Deck Officer 2 (C2 Officer), which includes 12 months of onboard training and is designed to develop the skills required by the STCW '78/95 Convention, as amended in 2010. The course, aimed at 25 high school or university graduates under 35, will lead to both the ITS diploma (EQF Level VI) and the professional qualification as a Deck Officer. The two-year course for Logistics Technician (Tec Log 3), developed to meet the needs of the maritime, port, and logistics cluster, trains professionals capable of operating in the various cycles of intermodal transport, managing logistics supply chain processes using project management principles, and the two-year course for Logistics Technician (Tec Log 3). This course is also aimed at 25 high school or university graduates under 35. During the Livorno event, as will happen in the two subsequent events in Pisa and Viareggio, representatives of local and regional institutions, companies in the sector, schools and students had the opportunity to discuss the crucial role of higher technical education as a driver of growth for the sector.
Vincenzo Poerio, president of the Isyl Foundation, stated: "Training is key to consolidating and developing our nautical sector. With the new Isyl courses, we are placing skills, innovation, and an international vision at the center, responding concretely to business needs. Our connection to the local area and our ongoing dialogue with our partners are a key strength in creating real opportunities for young people."
The Livorno event was attended by prominent representatives such as Alessandra Nardini (Councillor of the Tuscany Region), Federico Mirabelli (Municipality of Livorno), Paolo Pisano (Port Authority of Livorno), Cristina Grieco (President of Indire), and numerous representatives of the maritime and logistics sector, concludes the note from the Isyl Foundation, which adds an invitation to all companies, local authorities, trade associations and organizations interested in learning about the new courses and collaborating to help young professionals enter the world of work (more information on the upcoming courses and how to express interest is available on the Isyl Academy website, in the "our courses" section).
