Sanlorenzo presents the new flagship crossover Sx120
The superyacht, defined as the combination of sustainability, innovation and style, is the largest of the shipyard's crossover line

Sanlorenzo presents the SX120, the flagship of its innovative crossover line. At 36,6 meters long and with a gross tonnage of 270 tons, the superyacht represents "a bold evolution in design and technology, promising to redefine the way we experience the sea." The new project will officially debut at the upcoming Cannes International Yachting Festival.
The SX120, explains the shipyard, is a pioneer in its segment, being the first composite yacht to integrate Volvo Penta's new IPS Professional Platform, the cutting-edge propulsion system presented for the first time in Düsseldorf in 2024. It uses two 1.000 hp engines per pod, offering performance comparable to larger engines but with reduced overall dimensions, fuel consumption, and emissions. The adoption of this technology, also equipped with an Exhaust Gas Treatment System and an Eco Mode function to optimize fuel consumption at partial load, underscores Sanlorenzo's commitment to more sustainable and environmentally friendly yachting. This solution, in addition to opening up new design possibilities by freeing up interior space otherwise dedicated to the engine room, makes the system more efficient and highlights a significant reduction in energy losses and a marked improvement in maneuverability, as emphasized by Nicola Pomi, VP Marine Sales, Yacht and Superyacht Division, Volvo Penta.
The SX120, Sanlorenzo continues, "embodies a harmonious fusion of the characteristics of a flying bridge motoryacht and those of an explorer, creating a yachting concept that enhances the connection between interior and exterior." The design is the result of a long-standing collaboration with Zuccon International Project for the exterior and Piero Lissoni for the interior, who have successfully enhanced the potential of a vessel with a simple and sophisticated design.
The SX120 blends pioneering technology with cutting-edge nautical design, featuring a striking beach area that extends from 40 to 70 square meters with the opening of the side terraces, a 360° panoramic view from the upper deck, and a sun deck with a configurable Smart Island. Another distinctive feature is the beach area, which offers owners the flexibility of a retractable pool, which can be covered or uncovered via a lift and sliding mechanism for the sundeck, ensuring aesthetic appeal, privacy, and safety while cruising.
Bernardo Zuccon of Zuccon International Project described the Sx120 as the manifesto of the evolution of the Sx range, highlighting the concept's ability to translate into different sizes, creating boats with their own identities and design solutions that justify each model's placement within the same range. Piero Lissoni described the Sx120 as a "spectacular floating architecture," a "floating villa" that perfectly integrates all the lessons learned from the other Sx models, with large openings and interconnected floors.
Spread across four decks, the superyacht completely reconsiders the spaces on board, characterised by the movement of the volumes to the bow and an imposing cockpit aft completely dedicated to activities at sea.
The main deck features a three-sided dining area aft, seating up to 14 guests. A large window leads to the lounge. The guest cabins' location on the lower deck has allowed the entire forward section of this deck to be dedicated to the bright master bedroom with sea views. This space also offers direct access to a forward area that can be furnished as a sundeck or patio, complete with a coffee table and an outdoor lounge.
Climbing the stairs leads to the upper deck, which offers a 360-degree view of the horizon. The spacious interior is designed with great flexibility, allowing it to be converted into a dining area, a media room, or a playroom at the owner's request. The upper deck then opens onto a lounge overlooking the sea, connected by an external staircase to one of the most original new features of the SX120: the flybridge, which, for the first time on this type of yacht, transforms into an elegant sun deck featuring the new Smart Island concept: a modular seating system, freely configurable and equipped with additional features, designed to offer a private space and maximum privacy.
The interior design, curated by Piero Lissoni for the first unit, is characterized by refined material research and meticulous attention to detail. Ceilings and walls are punctuated by a wooden reed pattern that creates continuity and depth, with several vertical steel-effect inserts. The elegance extends to the floors, with alternating parquet and carpeting, and to the bathrooms, which feature a marble-effect ceramic material. In the master stateroom, a backlit headboard serves as a decorative screen, discreetly separating the sleeping area from the wardrobe area, creating a sophisticated space.
Tommaso Vincenzi, CEO of Sanlorenzo, commented on the Sx120: “It represents the natural evolution of a range that has changed the way we conceive of yachting and redefined the experience of life on board, introducing a new idea of space, liveability, and connection with the sea.”
These are the technical specifications of the new Sanlorenzo Sx120: overall length of 36,6 m; maximum beam of 8 meters; gross tonnage of 270 GT; guest accommodations: 10 people; crew accommodations: 6 people; Volvo Penta D13- Ips 2700 Imo III / 4 x 1000 HP engines, maximum speed (approx.) 23 knots, range at economic speed (approx.): 2.000 nm.
