Maxi Dolphin has launched the new MD78
A custom fast cruiser designed by Giovanni Ceccarelli and built entirely of carbon with wet lay-up technology. It has two rudders and a lifting keel.

Maxi Dolphin has announced the launch of the new MD78, a custom fast cruiser that blends luxury, innovation, and top-notch performance. At 23,95 meters long, the MD78 was designed by Ceccarelli Yacht Design for a discerning owner seeking an uncompromising sailing experience. The yacht was conceived for long-distance cruising in the Mediterranean, optimized for offshore racing. This dual purpose reflects the growing demand from owners seeking versatility and performance in a single package. The design process took into account the need for a vessel that could be easily sailed by a small crew, while maintaining a sporty spirit and the ability to compete at the highest levels on the Maxi Dolphin regatta circuit.
The waterlines were developed with the help of CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) analysis, and the hull stands out for its relatively limited waterline width, resulting in refined shapes and a modest wetted surface area, optimizing resistance. The bow sections are deep for excellent wave riding, ensuring comfort and dryness, while the stern sections are wide but flared to reduce the increase in resistance when heeling. The maximum beam of 6,55 m remains almost constant all the way to the stern, contributing to generous interior volumes without compromising performance. The bow is vertical, as is the sternpost.
The MD78 features twin rudders and a lifting T-keel with a draft ranging from 2,90 meters to 5,15 meters, ensuring excellent righting moment and allowing access to shallow ports and marinas. The hull and deck are constructed using female molds and carbon fiber using wet lay-up technology, a process developed by the shipyard that allows for complete control of the production process in all its phases, minimizing the use of parasitic resin for a lightweight and robust structure.
The interiors were developed based on the owner's needs and tastes, with a layout that includes a master suite forward, complete with separate bathroom and shower, and two VIP cabins, each with its own private bathroom. For the crew, there are two cabins with en-suite facilities aft of the entrance stairway.
