The sea trial of the Ferretti Yachts 940, a new Class A-certified widebody yacht.
Spacious spaces, contemporary design and advanced technical solutions redefine the concept of exclusive cruising with five cabins, large windows and a 50 square metre flybridge.

Venice – Previewed at the Venice Boat Show, the Ferretti Yachts 940 is the new model that expands the Romagna-based shipyard's range, launching a 28,97-meter yacht with a sleek profile and contemporary design. It is the brand's first widebody of this size and stands out for its spacious interiors and the seamless continuity between interior and exterior. The project is the result of a collaboration between the Product Strategy Committee chaired by Piero Ferrari, the Ferretti Group's Engineering Department, architect Filippo Salvetti for the exteriors, and IdeaeItalia for the interiors.
With a beam of 6,76 m, the Ferretti Yachts 940 offers five cabins, including a master stateroom on the main deck, three VIP cabins, and a double cabin with sliding beds on the lower deck. The crew quarters are forward and designed for functionality and privacy, with a dinette, captain's cabin, and double cabin, both with private bathrooms.
The main deck features a 32-square-meter cockpit, configurable in various ways, connected directly to the aft platform by a glass railing. The tender garage can accommodate a tender up to 4,10 m long, and launching is simplified thanks to a submersible platform with pantograph movement.
The nearly 30 square meter living room is flooded with light thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows, including those in the dining area. The layout is customizable: the basic version features a Minotti corner sofa opposite a cabinet with a foldaway TV, while other configurations add additional seating or storage.
The 50-square-meter flybridge, accessible both from the exterior and from the Raised Pilot House, is a convivial space for al fresco lunches and dinners. It is covered by a hard top, also available with opening slats, and furnished with pieces from Talenti and Minotti. The aft area is fully customizable, with freestanding furniture of the owner's choice. Forward, two distinct areas: a sundeck with cup holders and a C-shaped sofa facing forward with a teak coffee table. All can be protected by an optional awning.
Two interior versions are available: Classic, with warm earthy tones, and Contemporary, inspired by the colors of the sea. Both were designed by IdeaeItalia, featuring materials such as Silver Roots marble, luminous woods, and natural fabrics. The full-beam master stateroom measures over 27 square meters and offers a king-size bed, walk-in closet, and bathroom with a marble shower.
The Ferretti Yachts 940 is available with two pairs of MAN engines: the 2.000 mHp V12 (top speed 25 knots, cruising speed 21) or the more powerful 2.200 mHp V12X (top speed 27 knots, cruising speed 23). It is CE certified in Class A, the highest level for yachts under 24 meters in length.
Successor to the FY 920, the new Ferretti Yacht 940 features several technical improvements, such as a new, improved exhaust line (previously direct exhaust) that reduces noise and vibration. To increase stability, the test version, powered by a pair of MAN 2000 engines, was equipped with Humphree 1450 Vector fins, but owners can also choose to have the stabilization provided by Seakeeper.
The sea trial in Venice took place fully loaded, with 12 people on board, in 70 cm waves and moderate winds. Even with the base engine installed, we appreciated the engines' response as soon as the throttles were quickly opened. The cruising speed is around 22 knots.
