HP Watermakers and Numarine Announce Technical Partnership for the 30XP Series
The HP Sca Double series compact desalinators have been installed on four explorer vessels from the Turkish shipyard, one already launched and three under construction. The system can produce up to 600 liters/hour of water and operate for 6 hours without maintenance.

The Turkish shipyard Numarine has chosen to equip its four 30XP explorer yachts, one already launched and three under construction, with the HP SCA Double 660 desalination system developed by HP Watermakers. This modular desalination system is designed to meet the needs of compactness and operational continuity. The heart of the innovation lies in the separation of the low-pressure pumps from the main frame, allowing for installation near the seacocks, reducing the overall footprint by approximately one-third compared to previous models. The membranes can also be positioned independently, facilitating the distribution of systems on board based on available space.
The system comprises two desalinators installed in parallel and independently, housed in the same frame. This configuration allows for flexible management of fresh water production based on onboard consumption: 330 l/h per unit, 660 l/h total, up to 6.000 hours of maintenance-free operation. A single module can cover needs during periods of reduced activity, while both come into operation during peak demand, ensuring continuity even in the event of a breakdown or scheduled maintenance.
The system's automation is handled by the RP Tronic device, which automatically calibrates pressure based on water salinity and temperature, performing efficient rinses at the end of the cycle to prevent salt buildup. This eliminates the need for seasonal chemical washes and reduces human intervention in the engine room.
Numarine has also adopted the Sea0Spot device, which allows the desalination of water coming from port columns, integrating the function of the desalination plant with the treatment of quay water.
Another key factor in the choice was the Part-NET interface system, developed by HP to communicate with the main onboard electronic systems. The watermakers can be controlled from the bridge plotter, allowing the crew to manage the system without accessing the technical spaces.
The HP Sca Double 660 measures 737 mm in length, 452 mm in height, and 560 mm in depth, with a total weight of 108 kg. Installed power is 2 x 3 kW.
"When Numarine's engineers needed a compact desalination system for their new 30XPs that was also capable of delivering significant productivity, they turned to our standard Sc Double system," explains Gianni Zucco, co-founder of HP Watermakers. "At the same time, HP Watermakers had developed the Sc Double series, which also solved another problem for the Turkish shipyard's engineers: placing the low-pressure seawater pumps near the bottom, greatly improving their efficiency and making the main unit more compact. After all, that was precisely the goal we set ourselves when we designed the HP Sca Double series."
The series is made up of five models (240, 440, with membranes incorporated into the machine, the 660, 880 and 1200, with separate membranes) for a fresh water production of 240 l/h to 1.200 l/h.
