CRN m/y 145 Project Thunderball: construction of the 70-meter vessel progresses.
The completely bespoke superyacht features a peak shaving system, which increases energy efficiency and reduces fuel consumption.

Construction of the CRN m/y 145 Project Thunderball superyacht, a fully custom 70-meter vessel, is progressing at CRN's Ancona shipyard. The project, "which embodies innovation, naval engineering, and refined Italian craftsmanship," the shipyard informs, is nearing its final stages, with launch and delivery scheduled for 2026.
The displacement superyacht, built with a steel hull and aluminum superstructure, is the result of a complete customization that encompasses every aspect: from design to engineering, from construction to naval architecture. CRN and the Ferretti Group Superyachts Division combined their expertise with the experience of Dutch studio Vripack Yacht Design, which oversaw the exterior lines, preliminary naval architecture, and preliminary master plans. The interior and outdoor design was entrusted to Nauta Design.
CRN assumed full responsibility for project management through delivery, overseeing the final engineering, naval architecture, and master plans. Y.Co. supports the owner by acting as representative and project management team, ensuring technical supervision, coordination with the shipyard, and management of inspections and acceptance processes, to ensure maximum compliance with the owner's specific requirements.
Characterized by a traditional long bow and a sleek profile, the superyacht features harmonious lines inspired by sailboats, gently curved bilges, and smooth surfaces. "The overall design has been carefully considered to achieve maximum sailing efficiency and comfortable maneuverability, ensuring a seamless cruising experience," explains the shipyard. The interior concept, curated by Nauta Design, is conceived to transcend trends, expressing a deep connection to the culture of the sea, "combined with a sophisticated balance of iconic details and premium materials, blending tradition and modernity."
Summer 2025 will be crucial for the exterior of CRN m/y 145 Project Thunderball, with the fairing phase scheduled for completion by the end of the season. Work is proceeding as expected on all decks, with the installation of onboard systems at an advanced stage and the structural metal components almost fully completed. The design and construction of the wood finishes for the exterior furnishings are in full swing, with meticulous attention to detail. The hull is scheduled for full painting in September 2025, once the priming and fairing work is complete.
Interior partitioning was completed in April, while installation of the structural furnishings on the Lower Deck and in the VIP areas of the Owner Deck will begin between June and July. On the Main Deck, insulation is complete and partitioning is underway. The installation of the first furnishings onboard, expected between late spring and early summer, will mark a significant milestone in defining the yacht's bespoke atmosphere.
Designed on five decks, the superyacht has an overall length of 70 meters, a beam of 11 meters, and a gross tonnage of 1.100 GT. It can accommodate 12 guests in the owner's suite and five VIP cabins, as well as 15 crew members in nine cabins.
CRN m/y 145 is equipped with MAN V12-1213kW engines, allowing for a top speed of 15,5 knots and a cruising speed of 12 knots. This completely custom-built yacht features a peak shaving system, which increases energy efficiency and significantly reduces fuel consumption, optimizing energy management and allowing for silent operation at anchor.
“CRN's know-how, the design quality of Vripack and Nauta, combined with the ability to listen and adapt to the owner's specific requests, reflect the brand's bespoke culture,” concludes the shipyard's statement.
