Formula 1 stars are extending their penchant for luxury and high-end performance not only to cars but also to the nautical sector. As revealed by the newspaper motorbox.com, the panorama of the boats of the drivers and magnates of F1 would seem to go beyond the status symbol, also showing the expression of the identity of the individual characters and representing – depending on the case – the most sophisticated opulence, the refined avant-garde of engineering, the sensitivity towards sustainability.

Lewis HamiltonThe English racing driver, who joined the Ferrari team in 2025, purchased a 28-meter Sunseeker 90 superyacht in 2009. The yacht, characterized by its discreet luxury interiors and refined engineering, confirms his "off-the-track" philosophy, oriented toward refined design and an understated personal style, according to the specialized publication. Valued at the time between $4 and $5 million, the yacht has a top speed of 30 knots and a cruising speed of 22 knots. Some industry rumors suggest a customized Amels 80 as the seven-time Formula 1 world champion's next purchase, but this has not yet been confirmed.

The power and bold design of the Italian superyacht Mangusta GranSport33 by Overmarine they instead attracted the two-time world champion Max Verstappen from the Red Bull racing team. Designed by Alberto Mancini and named 'Unleash The Lion'—a clear reference to the Dutch driver's grit—the yacht is powered by Volvo engines that allow it to reach a top speed of 26 knots. At 33 meters long, the Mangusta can accommodate up to 12 passengers and five crew members, offering a beach club, spacious sundecks, and a lounge area. Its value is approximately $15 million.

Lando Norris, specifically for the recent 2025 Monaco Grand Prix, chose to base its 72.6-meter Coral Ocean on the Monegasque waters. Built by Lürssen and launched in 1994, the megayacht—estimated to be worth between $40 and $50 million—was completely refitted in 2022 and combines classic style with modern technology. The Coral Ocean features hidden balconies, a spa, a wellness center, and interiors designed for entertainment. During events, she explains: motorbox.com, It serves as a “floating headquarters” for the McLaren racing team, hosting teams and sponsors.

Even in Formula 1, attention is paid, whenever possible, to sustainability; this is demonstrated by Fernando Alonso – with its 13-meter catamaran Sunreef Power Eco 60 by Sunreef Yachts, equipped with solar panels and batteries to achieve zero-emission navigation with hybrid propulsion – and Sebastian Vettel, the four-time world champion who retired in 2022, who – in keeping with his declared commitment to the environment – is often spotted on classic sailing boats.

The specialized magazine has drawn up a list of other Formula 1 protagonists who are passionate about yachting, starting with the Canadian magnate and owner of the Aston Martin F1 team Lawrence stroll, owner of “Faith”: an 80-meter Feadship mega yacht valued at approximately $225 million.

The former world champion Jenson Button Instead, he chose a more compact but very exclusive vessel: the J Craft Torpedo R: a 12,8-metre yacht handcrafted in Sweden that stands out for its retro style inspired by classic Italian boats, with a top speed of 42 knots (almost 78 km/h).

Red Bull Racing's chief engineer, Adrian Newey, chose the 27,4-metre Oyster 885; delivered in 2024 and co-designed by himself, in the yacht – designed for long-distance sailing – Newey sought to achieve a combination of racing performance and cruising comfort.

The list of motorbox.com It ends with the yacht of the former Irish pilot Eddie Irvine: the 19,5 meter Anaconda S (presumably from the Dutch shipyard Hakvoort Maritiem – ed). A yacht that combines high performance and sporty design, which can reach a top speed of 30 knots and reflects Irvine's competitive spirit and strong taste for dynamic sailing.
