From the latest updates on Bayesian We have learned that an operational meeting will be held in Porticello on May 7th at 10:00 a.m. to prepare for the start of recovery activities.

This information, along with other clarifications, was reported by Adnkronos, the news agency that was present yesterday aboard the Coast Guard vessel, the 'Dattilo', which has been stationed for several days a short distance from Hebo 2, the floating platform that will recover the sailing vessel that sank last August in the Bay of Porticello (Palermo), killing seven people, including British tycoon Mike Lynch and his daughter Hanna. It should be noted that the captain, New Zealander James Cutfield, British engineer Tim Parker Eaton, and their compatriot Matthew Griffith, who was on watch on the bridge at the time of the sinking, are currently under investigation for multiple homicide and negligent shipwreck.

Aboard the Dattilo, commanded by Frigate Captain Davide Guzzi, a 24-hour patrol is in place. It is from here, the agency explains, that the most important decisions are made "to prevent anyone from compromising naval safety." Through its command bridge and the use of other smaller vessels, the Coast Guard is coordinating surveillance of the shipwreck area to ensure compliance with the interdiction order within a 650-meter radius, ensuring the safety of recovery operations and preventing the entry of other vessels. Environmental monitoring is also being conducted on the ship to detect any traces of pollution from the Bayiesian's 18.000-liter fuel on board. This monitoring, which has so far revealed no traces, is also being conducted via European satellites.

The recovery operation, due to the 50-meter depth at which the Bayesian lies, is complex and delicate. Two platforms will be used: Hebo Lift 2, with 700 square meters of deck space and an onboard crane, is already on site. Having set sail from Ortona with a core crew and accompanied by an Italian support tugboat, the crane arrived four days ago at the port of Termini Imerese, where it stopped to load the latest project-specific recovery equipment, as well as expert divers, remotely operated underwater vehicle pilots, and other specialized maritime personnel. The second platform, Hebo Lift 10, the 5.695-gross ton floating crane that will play the lead role in the project, arrived at the port of Termini Imerese a few days ago and is expected in Palermo today.

Over the next 7-10 days, Adnkronos reports, a detailed inspection and analysis of the Bayesian and surrounding marine environment will be carried out by the remotely operated submersible, in accordance with the project and environmental protection plan approved by local and state authorities. This will be followed by the deployment of the floating crane, the righting of the vessel, and the cutting of the mast, according to the management of TMC Marine, the UK-based maritime consultancy firm leading the international consortium of experts charged with the salvage of the sailing vessel.

The operations, which will be constantly monitored by the Palermo Port Authority, with the oversight of the Coast Guard and the assistance of the Police Force, will utilize anti-pollution vehicles, drones, and ROVs for environmental safety. Monitoring in this regard will be continuous and managed by ARPA and the Coast Guard, with specialized personnel conducting periodic water sampling. The flight area for monitoring drones has already been closed.

Expert German personnel are already working on recovering data from the hard disk, which could potentially be useful in understanding the causes of the shipwreck, and the intervention of the ship's manufacturer (The Italian Sea Group) may be necessary.
