Baglietto expands in La Spezia and focuses on production efficiency.
The launch of its first 60-meter superyacht powered by hydrogen generated from seawater has also been announced very soon.

Baglietto, a historic shipyard based in La Spezia and part of the Gavio Group, has announced a plan to expand and optimize its operations. The company aims to strengthen its presence in the superyacht sector through an investment of over €20 million, primarily focused on expanding its Ligurian production facility.
The plan includes an infrastructure project at the La Spezia shipyard, with the construction of a new warehouse that will be added to the six existing structures. According to Fabio Ermetto, the shipyard's sales director, ilsole24ore.com, the strategic move aims to adapt the spaces to the growing market demands, particularly regarding the construction of larger custom yachts, a segment Baglietto, specializing in yachts from 35 to 60 meters, is registering interest.
Il construction site expansion projectApproved two years ago by the Eastern Ligurian Sea Port Authority, the project will support the trend toward vessels larger than 50 meters, while also ensuring greater efficiency in production processes. The initiative, part of a multi-year plan, has received the approval of the local port authorities, resulting in a long-term extension of the state concession.
Alongside the infrastructure expansion, already implemented at the Carrara shipyard in recent years, tripling its space, where the shipyard currently has eight warehouses, Baglietto is reportedly carefully evaluating opportunities for vertical integration within its supply chain. The focus is reportedly on carpentry shops and companies specializing in the production of yacht interior fittings. This strategy aims to internalize key skills with the goal of improving quality control and, above all, delivery times.
The company, already active in in-house work, especially for its smaller yachts, intends to expand this scope and is evaluating both the expansion of dedicated spaces within its shipyards and the potential acquisition of companies operating in this sector.
On the innovation front, Baglietto on this occasion announced the imminent launch of its first 60-metre yacht equipped with hybrid propulsion with hydrogen technology Generated by seawater. The La Spezia shipyard already has a system that partially powers the onshore facilities. Since the development of that project, Baglietto has applied the hydrogen system to one of its vessels, which it will soon present. It is also transferring this cutting-edge technology to its own vessels, opening new frontiers for more sustainable sailing. The integrated system will allow the vessel to operate in hybrid mode, using hydrogen as a clean energy source when needed.
Despite customer requests for even larger units, Baglietto seems intent on maintaining a balanced production mix, continuing to focus on the solid market segment between 35 and 50 metres, which currently has a high number of ongoing orders.
