El Caran, the 39-meter Benetti yacht once owned by David Bowie, has been sold.
Delivered in 1977, the superyacht is characterised by classic external lines and a contemporary interior layout.

The 39,08-metre Benetti superyacht El Caran, once owned by legendary English rock singer and songwriter David Bowie, was sold in a recent internal deal through the brokerage firm Fraser, which acted on behalf of both parties.
El Caran, delivered in 1977 for Benetti's Classic series, was designed both interior and exterior by the shipyard, which also developed her naval architecture. The steel-displacement yacht underwent a major refit in 2020, which included a complete paint job and a new teak deck.
Featuring classic lines and a modern interior layout, with a displacement of 272 GT, it has six cabins (four doubles, including the master cabin on the deck, and two twins) that can accommodate up to 12 guests, as well as accommodations for a crew of seven. Another distinctive feature of El Caran is its spacious sky lounge and the large outdoor spaces on the deck, as well as the canoe-shaped stern. The superyacht is equipped with stabilizers at anchor for greater comfort.
Powered by twin MTU engines, this Benetti Classic cruises at 10 knots with a range of 3.000 nautical miles and can reach a top speed of 12 knots. El Caran's last known sale price was €4,5 million.
