A workshop for captains and crews organized by SUPER YACHT 24 on February 18th in Genoa
“Safety and responsibility on board yachts” is the topic of an in-depth discussion, followed by a visit to the Waterfront Marina Genova and the Amico & Co. shipyard.

On February 18th, at Palazzo San Giorgio in Genoa, headquarters of the Western Ligurian Sea Port Authority, SUPER YACHT 24, in collaboration with the Associazione Marittimi Diporto (A.Ma.Di.), which celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2025, is organizing a technical workshop for yacht crews. This includes not only captains, but also officers, chief engineers, chefs, stewards, and hostesses.
The meeting's theme is "Safety and Crew Responsibilities aboard Yachts," and speakers have been invited to discuss the topic, including case studies, and to provide insight into all aspects and innovations of life and work on boats and pleasure craft, including the associated risks and responsibilities. A.Ma.Di., an association chaired by Captain Paolo Blaffard, has called for a workshop to raise awareness among seafarers (not just captains) about the risks of the profession and safety in various aspects.
Various focus areas will be dedicated to in-depth analysis of regulations, legal aspects, insurance and appraisals, classification societies, safety and inspectors, fire safety, weather, and more. "A well-informed and trained captain and crew can also be of assistance to the shipowner and management company in avoiding unpleasant situations," emphasizes A.Ma.Di.
Speakers already confirmed include Alberto Faravelli (Genova Fire Service), Cecilia Vernetti (Camera Vernetti law firm), Carola Federico (HdB insurance broker), Carolina Villa (SCS Yachting), Alessio Gnecco (Aipam), Luciano Cinelli (captain) and Gianfranco Meggiorin (Navimeteo).
In addition to fires and regulatory developments, the planned in-depth sessions will also focus on rescue operations and yachting, analyzed from a legal and expert perspective. They will examine several practical cases and identify emergency measures and actions that, from a technical and contractual/legal standpoint, should be adopted by yacht captains. A dedicated in-depth session will then address onboard insurance responsibilities, not only for the crew but also for guests on board. A session will then focus on weather and the associated risks for navigation and port calls, while another in-depth session will address vessel management from a safety and security perspective (mini-ISM/SMS), including for pleasure craft under 500 gross tonnage.
After registration at 9:30 a.m., the workshop will begin at 10:00 a.m. and conclude with a networking lunch hosted in the internal courtyard of Palazzo San Giorgio.
Following, immediately after lunch at 14:30 pm, it will be possible to visit the Waterfront Marina Genova (a facility with 26 moorings reserved for yachts from 25 to 110 meters in the heart of Genoa) and the Amico & Co. refitting shipyard.
