Luigi Bruzzo (Navigo): "With the Isyl Foundation, we're training new maritime professionals."
The representative of Navigo, at the 5th SUPER YACHT 24 Forum, spoke about the importance of teaching captains and crews to navigate the many technologies and innovations on board, from propulsion to electronics.

Pisa – In the race for technological innovation to make yachting more eco-sustainable and safe, let's not forget the human element. Specifically, the captains, those who will operate the new features installed on board and who are responsible for the safety and comfort of the cruise and for proper vessel management.
This is the message launched by Luigi Bruzzo of Navigo and the Ysil Foundation to 5th Forum organized by SUPER YACHT 24 in Pisa, which also discussed safety in yachting. "Navigo has been developing certain issues for years," said Luigi Bruzzo, "with its over 200 members from across the yachting industry, the largest in Europe. In addition to organizing international events, such as Yare, we train senior technicians for the specific nautical sector."
The role of training is particularly important. "We run an Academy," Bruzzo added, "that trains future maritime professionals to use these innovations. Companies also ask us to maintain the expertise, both on board and in the shipyard, that makes us a world leader. Losing it would mean giving away work to shipyards in other countries." This point about training was emphasized by several captains in the audience, who reiterated how the human element is fundamental.
A new yacht propulsion system, a new type of fuel, or new electronic instrumentation for managing home automation and the ship's operations must be thoroughly understood by those who will step onto the bridge to take command. And often, the rush to innovate leaves behind the very first adopters of these innovations.
Navigo's training is delivered through TYT – True Yachting Training, an acronym that encompasses Navigo's commitment to developing highly qualified professionals, from basic operational training to advanced training for managers and captains. TYT's first pillar is the Artieri Academy, a crucial starting point for those wishing to pursue a career in the nautical industry. The basic operational training offered by Artieri Academy provides essential skills for aspiring professionals, covering a wide range of practical and theoretical knowledge.
The TYT training program is further enhanced through its collaboration with the Isyl Foundation – Italian Super Yacht Life – of which Navigo is a founding member. This phase introduces ITS (Higher Technical Education) training, offering specialized in-depth study in various nautical disciplines for graduates aged 18-35. The Isyl Foundation is a Tuscan higher technical institute, the only one in the nautical sector, based in Viareggio. It was created to organize highly professional training courses for future careers in the sector.
The Foundation operates in the technological area of sustainable mobility in the nautical, transport, and logistics sector, particularly in the areas of production and maintenance of means of transport and related infrastructure and the mobility of people and goods.
