FPT Industrial and AS Labruna on board the WiderCat 92 hybrid catamaran
Two 349 kW variable speed motors combined with two 500 kW electric motors provide propulsion for Wider's 92-foot multihull, the third hull of which has just been launched.

The Wider shipyard has chosen FPT Industrial, a brand of the Iveco Group, together with its distributor AS Labruna, to power the new hybrid catamaran WiderCat 92, the third hull of which was recently launched at the Wider Vision Hub in Fano.
An innovative multihull that couldn't be outdone in the engine room. Propulsion is provided by two 349 kW FPT Industrial N67 570 EVO variable-speed engines, combined with two 500 kW electric motors, in an innovative serial hybrid propulsion system. Energy storage is provided by a Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery pack.
The solution provided by FPT Industrial and AS Labruna allows the WiderCat 92 to cruise at 12 knots thanks to the Electric Boost. Hybrid mode allows the catamaran to travel up to 1.700 nautical miles at 6 knots. When sailing purely on electric power, however, it can travel 24 miles at 6 knots, in complete silence and with zero emissions. When it's time to drop anchor, the batteries provide 15 hours of autonomy for utilities and hospitality services, always in silence and without emissions. The solar panels installed on the WiderCat 92 ensure energy self-sufficiency at night, thanks to battery storage.
The heart of the WiderCat 92's serial hybrid system is the compact, high-performance N67 570 EVO six-cylinder, 6,7-liter displacement engines, equipped with advanced common-rail electronics. They ensure consistent, high power and torque delivery, reliability, and low fuel consumption. Designers have focused on the layout and specific settings for their marine applications. The engine and turbocharger cooling systems are optimized for high-power missions.
