Italian nautical accessories turnover exceeds 2 billion euros (+10,9%)
National production for the domestic market remains at 40%, imports at 23,4%, while exports stand at 36,3%.

According to the new edition of Nautica in numeri – Log, published by the Confindustria Nautica Research Department in partnership with Fondazione Edison, the overall turnover of the entire accessories sector exceeds €2 billion (+10,9% compared to 2022), €1,59 billion of which comes from domestic production and €486 million from imports (Figure 4.1). The breakdown of the accessories sector's turnover by destination, stable compared to last year, is as follows: domestic production for the domestic market remains at approximately 40%, imports at 23,4%, and exports stand at 36,3%. All the factors considered have grown strongly over the last three years, and it is clear that this growth affects all components. The trend in the distribution of domestic accessories production between exports and the domestic market (Fig. 4.4) shows that values have tended to be very close to 50%, with small variations, since 2012, and that the domestic market has once again become more important than the foreign market since 2021. Through an analysis of a 40% sample of the sector's overall turnover, the product composition across different product types is observed (Fig. 4.5). The analysis shows that the nautical accessories sub-sector plays the most significant role in the sample's turnover (54%), followed by components (approximately 23%).
The nautical accessories and components sector, the publication specifies, is primarily represented by small and medium-sized companies and plays a key role in the Italian nautical industry, characterized by high levels of quality and technology. The product categories considered are: nautical apparel, accessories, marine engine and mechanical accessories, masts, sails and sailmakers, sport fishing equipment, trailers and boat transport, components, generators, raw materials, underwater fishing, marina systems and equipment, and onboard electronics. For better data analysis, the sector has been divided into two macro-sectors: components, represented by the elements that are an integral part of the vessel and without which navigation would not be possible, and accessories, which are not necessarily essential for navigation but nevertheless form part of the vessel's equipment. It is possible to assume that the analyzed sample represents approximately 90% of the sector's overall value, considering this figure as a conservative assumption, given the very broad spectrum of companies involved in the production of accessories used in the nautical field, even if, in many cases, not as a core business. The data relating to component manufacturers are in fact entirely available to the survey, while those relating to accessory manufacturers are difficult to collect in their entirety, and it is likely that a 10% share of the market escapes the survey.
