Cala dei Sardi: Safer Mooring with Seadamp by Seares
An innovative and sustainable system capable of improving the safety and comfort of boaters by dampening up to 90 percent of the forces acting on the mooring lines

The Cala dei Sardi Marina, located in the Gulf of Cugnana in Sardinia, has adopted Seares' Seadamp technology. "The collaboration with Seares," explains Simone Morelli, owner of the Cala dei Sardi Marina, "began in 2022 with the installation of Seadamps, a special shock absorber that completes the anchoring system for the marina's floating modules. The use of Seadamps aims to address critical challenges such as the strength of the north-east wind, thus making the breakwaters more effective. Thanks to the use of advanced mechatronic devices, equipped with load sensors and active monitoring, Cala dei Sardi is now able to guarantee constant 24/7 monitoring of mooring conditions, and by 2025, all of the marina's mooring lines will be progressively equipped with the latest-generation Seadamp systems, including models featuring adaptive energy recovery."
The modular and scalable structure of the Seadamps includes a hydraulic component that dampens up to 90% of the forces acting on the mooring lines, and a mechatronic component for real-time load monitoring. The system also allows for wave energy recovery, helping reduce the port's energy consumption and improving the stability of floating structures.
"The choice of Seadamp systems," Morelli continues, "is part of a sustainability strategy that embraces the principles of the circular economy. The devices are made from 100% recyclable materials, assembled using renewable energy, and delivered in plastic-free packaging. The use of biodegradable oil in the hydraulic system ensures the protection of marine biodiversity, even in the event of a leak. Thanks to these technologies, Cala dei Sardi is able to preserve water quality while minimizing noise and the catenary effect of mooring lines. The marina thus proves to be not only an ideal destination for those seeking luxury and comfort tourism, but also a reference point for those who, like us, want to experience the sea in a conscious and environmentally friendly way."
