Cannes (France) – Cantiere delle Marche has unveiled the designs for the first model in its new Raw (recreational all-weather watercraft) series. The yacht, designed by Giorgio M. Cassetta, has an overall length of 31,08 meters and a full-load displacement of 240 tons. Vasco Buonpensiere, co-founder and CEO of the shipyard, explains how the idea for a new 100-footer, a "smaller" size than current market trends, was born.
My first conversation with my partner Ennio Cecchini came after one of my usual tours of the shipyard's warehouses. Looking at all those beautiful 499 GT boats, I realized two things: many were destined for former owners of our 100-footers, and the second thing is that, as the president of one of Northern Europe's most successful shipyards had told us some time earlier, no one can master the art of profitably building small custom and semi-custom boats like us. With these thoughts in mind, I burst into Ennio's office and said: let's focus on a new 100-footer.

Regarding the reasons behind choosing this particular size, Vasco Buonpensiere explained, "The main motivation was to maintain absolute leadership in a challenging market segment that our competitors are having difficulty dominating. If, as an owner looking to build a new vessel, you think of a 100-foot custom/semi-custom vessel in steel and aluminum, truly conceived as an explorer and not just as such, with an incredible value on the used market, built by a shipyard that enjoys a great reputation as a market leader, not many names will come to mind. This alone was a good reason: we couldn't lose our leadership and market share in that segment. The second reason is based on what Ennio and I firmly believe: it's much more difficult to start designing a range starting from the smaller sizes, but if you manage to do so, the larger boats will follow without a problem. The third reason is that we strongly believe in the flexibility of use of our boats, and many of our clients own or have owned much larger yachts and have downsized in search of a smaller size." a more intimate and flexible use of the vessel. The 100-foot range of our yachts offers the freedom to literally go anywhere (our Nauta and Darwin have already proven they can circumnavigate the world without a problem), with all the features found on larger boats.”

Designer Giorgio M. Cassetta says, “Vasco and Ennio were generous and allowed us to create a unique design language for this product. We wanted to convey the powerful, commanding look an explorer must have without sacrificing its fun side. Raw is both bold and playful, not out of place in a commercial port or turning heads in a marina. It can be in classic yacht colors or bold fluorescent hues, and will still maintain its poise and personality. The color scheme, inspired by search and rescue vessels, ensures visibility and safety. It symbolizes the vessel's purpose: to explore and enjoy the beauty of nature while remaining safe and easily recognizable from miles away. Creating something worthy of attention in the 100-foot range is challenging, primarily due to the enormous pressure that comes from competing in a very crowded market segment. A 30-meter can be both the entry-level purchase for an owner looking to upgrade to a larger size, or the last vessel in a yacht owner's career.” Owner. Some boaters even downsize to a 100-footer after owning larger boats and tiring of the operational challenges. We agreed with the shipyard that if we could create a 100-footer that could deliver what Raw ultimately delivered, we would win with the unbeatable balance of manageable size, reasonable ownership costs, striking aesthetics, and a solid offering of features and onboard space.”
Raw is powered by a pair of Caterpillar C18 ACERT IMO Tier III engines, reaching a top speed of 13 knots and a cruising speed of 11 knots. Its range is 4.500 nautical miles at 10 knots, rising to 6.000 at 9 knots.
