Giangrasso's first 'own' yacht is under construction, with new areas in Viareggio and a shipyard in his sights.
Interview with owner Bartolomeo Giangrasso who lifts the veil on the engines of the new models in the pipeline and relaunches his identity with the presentation of the new logo

Cannes (France) – Officially, the group is celebrating with a new corporate logo, but in reality, the Giangrasso shipyard brought several important innovations to the Cannes Yachting Festival in terms of company expansion and the construction of new yachts.
Owner Bartolomeo Giangrasso revealed not only the new brand but also his company's strategies. At SUPER YACHT 24, he summarized the shipyard's product offering with a new range of 18-34 meter yachts, all made of aluminum and with a focus on eco-sustainability. "We're also looking at the hybrid version of the 34-meter model," explains the Tuscan entrepreneur, adding: "What type of hybrid are we aiming for? Right now, I can say we're working on it with our technical office because hydrogen is out of the question, and I'm against lithium batteries. We've been looking at rechargeable dynamos; basically, we're studying them. The way we see it, the hybrid system must be onboard to allow the boat to access, for example, a nature reserve."
Giangrasso continues, explaining that "for yachts up to 25-27 meters, we want to offer a combination of MAN and ZF Pod engines, which we believe offer the best solution for boat performance with reduced fuel consumption. For smaller boats, however, we aim to install all-Volvo Penta engines. Finally, for 32 meters, I would like to continue with MAN 1650 engines, but with the traditional shaft drive."
Regarding the orders already underway, he specifies, "the first boat is under construction and three blocks are already welded. The stern block is missing, and the hull will arrive at the shipyard soon. We'll be assembling it at the end of October because the engines have already arrived. The boat will be presented at the Cannes Boat Show next year. In addition to the first unit already sold, we have a signed letter of intent for the second and are negotiating the third."
Not only that: Giangrasso reveals how “I met the owner who bought the first one a few days ago at the Cannes boat show because he already wants to build a bigger boat”.
The hulls for these new pleasure vessels are being built by the Tureddi shipyard in Pisa, while the superstructure is being constructed directly at the Giangrasso shipyard, which is also carrying out its usual refit work: "This is a very important part of our business, and we have dedicated a separate business segment to it with a dedicated company. Furthermore, we are also entering the commercial shipping business." Regarding this interesting development, the Tuscan shipyard's CEO explains: "For the mooring operators in the port of Livorno, we are competing for a small 18-meter passenger vessel, to be used to transport personnel from the mainland to the offshore regasification terminal. The same applies to a 13-meter tugboat for them."
Looking to the future, Giangrasso is convinced the business needs to be diversified: "We now have four companies, each of which focuses on its own specific field. GB Yacht provides surveying and management services, VT Shipyard handles the sales side, Cantieri Navali Giangrasso handles refits, and Giangrasso Group Srl builds new yachts."
With so much activity to follow, there's no shortage of new space to operate in: "In Viareggio (I can't reveal the name yet), we've acquired another warehouse, adding 2.500 square meters, but we're limited. In March, we were down in Gaeta to see the Italcraft shipyard, and now we're evaluating."
