The 64th Genoa Boat Show has been presented and will be even bigger.
In the future, an even greater focus on increasingly larger pleasure boats is possible, also taking advantage of the new areas of the renovated waterfront

Genoa - The presentation conference for the 64th International Boat Show, scheduled for September 19-24 in Genoa, has taken place. The numbers are the headline-grabbing ones: 1.052 brands exhibited and, currently, 1.030 vessels on display. Thanks to the renovations to the Levante Waterfront, the layout now boasts 220 square meters of land and water, with 85% of the space open to the public, 5 more than last year.
There are 100 new models, including 30 world premieres, and several superyachts on display: the Amer 120 (35,50 meters) by Amer Yachts, the Exuma 35 (35,20 meters) by Maiora, a shipyard of the NEXT Yachts group, and the Sanlorenzo SL86A (26,60 meters). The largest sailing vessel will be the Y8 (23,99 meters) by the shipyard.German YYachts.
The conference was opened by Saverio Cecchi, president of Confindustria Nautica, who emphasized the Show's significant economic impact on Italy, its industry, and the local community. "The Italian industry, thanks in part to its flagship trade fair, has weathered the international turbulence better than others. Confindustria Nautica is strongly committed to protecting and strengthening the sector in constant dialogue with the institutions: Palazzo Chigi has just approved the text of the Regulations."In order to implement the Nautical Code, the latest decree has just been adopted which makes the new simplified professional qualification for pleasure boat rental operational and we have worked hard with the structure of Minister Musumeci, the Ministry of Transport. and the Mimit, so that the next bill on the Blue Economy completes the set of reforms necessary to better compete with our competitor countries".
For Andrea Razeto, president of I Saloni Nautici, "The 64th edition of the Genoa International Boat Show promises to be a time of confirmation and consolidation. The international macroeconomic scenario, which offers a dual interpretation between political and military tensions and announced interest rate cuts, currently appears unaffected by the positive trend that has characterized the sector for several years. Even with the post-Covid emotional boost fading, growth numbers remain in double digits, suggesting that the wave of new entrants into the world of recreational boating has not been – for the most part – transitory or fleeting. The number of those who, in various capacities, have approached this world has undeniably expanded, the average age of boat owners has decreased, and the spending power of some of these new customers is proving significant."
Razeto then told SUPER YACHT 24 that all the conditions are in place for the Boat Show to be able to host increasingly larger boats in the future: “Genoa has great room for expansion, the more the Waterfront project goes forward, the greater the investment that the city authorities will make. The greater the opportunity to make Genoa even more attractive to that type of clientele. If we consider the space occupied by shipyards like Azimut-Benetti, Ferretti Group, and Sanlorenzo, there aren't many places where stands of that size can be built, and Genoa has all the characteristics to do well. I'd add that some shipyards could be more courageous in bringing their boats to the Show."
"The Genoa Boat Show – which, thanks in part to the international role of the Italian nautical industry, is increasingly a point of reference for the entire maritime world – will feature a full schedule of conferences and conventions to discuss and explore the sector's key issues with national and international experts and stakeholders," continued Marina Stella, Director General of Confindustria Nautica. "The prestige of the FORUM24 Boat Show conference program is attested by the patronage of the European Commission, confirming the comprehensive and authoritative work that Confindustria Nautica carries out at the European level. The now inseparable combination of sustainability and innovation is the cornerstone of a constantly evolving sector like the nautical one," Stella concluded. "The Design Innovation Award, established by Confindustria Nautica and the Genoa Boat Show, was created precisely with the aim of highlighting the excellence of nautical design and rewarding products that represent the best of technological and stylistic innovation. The fifth edition, which sees the confirmation of the Jury President Maria Porro, President of the Salone del Mobile Milano, will reward projects that stand out for their cutting-edge technological solutions, innovative design, and sustainable materials, helping to shape the future of recreational boating.
Among the speeches worth noting were those by Edoardo Rixi, Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, and the Mayor of Genoa, Marco Bucci. The former stated, "The Genoa Boat Show is very important for the country, a show that has rebounded in recent years with significant growth. Genoa can once again become the world's home of boating, because the Nautical Capital can only be a great capital of the sea. My ministry is fully committed to supporting the sector, including through the simplification of regulations, such as the Implementation Regulation of the Nautical Code. Anyone who believes that the Genoa Boat Show is in the interest of a city or region, rather than the nation, is profoundly mistaken. I would say that the Genoa Boat Show is in the interest of the entire country, but I would go further: it is in the interest of the European system because it is a leading world-class trade fair.
Mayor Bucci instead declared We are proud to welcome the Genoa International Boat Show back to Genoa, an event that for over sixty years has represented not only an unmissable event for maritime enthusiasts but also a fundamental pillar of our city's economy and image globally. This 64th edition, with the return to the Palasport and the involvement of over a thousand brands and boats, demonstrates the dynamism and capacity for innovation that characterizeGenoa and the entire Italian nautical industry are celebrating. Our city, with its deep connection to the sea, once again confirms its position as the nautical capital and a leader in a growth journey that looks to the future with confidence. I would like to thank Confindustria Nautica and all the partners involved for their commitment to organizing this edition, which I am confident will captivate and inspire visitors from around the world. I invite everyone to share this extraordinary experience, which reminds us how integral the sea and sailing are to our identity.".
