The new A.Ma.PY association is born to promote nautical tourism and yachting.

Chaired by Gennaro Irpino, the newly formed association will act on a technical and motivational level with training courses

As a announced at the beginning of the year at SUPER YACHT 24 The new A.Ma.PY association was founded by Commander Gennaro Irpino, which already brings together around fifty sailors, all active in their activities as captains and/or members of yacht crews.

The association, as stated in its bylaws, has among its primary goals the promotion and enhancement of all activities and professions related to the nautical tourism and yachting sector in its entirety, and naturally the resolution of the problems currently being identified in the industry, particularly those experienced on board and which jeopardize the tranquility of navigation, "sometimes even discouraging shipowners from continuing to operate charters," explains Irpino, now president of the newly formed association.

The A.Ma.PY association's commitment will be to provide assistance to its members, through courses, in resolving issues encountered on board. These issues primarily concern the profound importance of good human relations, the dynamics that arise due to the often limited space in which crews must live for long periods, and the long workdays, the burden of which is perhaps compounded by difficult navigation.

All these issues "put a strain on seafarers, who nevertheless remain heroes," explains Gennaro Irpino, "because, despite everything, given their responsibility for guest management, they must ensure that every day is safe and harmonious, and above all, productive, for every single cruise."

In addition to these aspects related to motivational and relationship issues, much attention, through education and training courses, will also be given to the technical aspects, even the most complex ones. This naturally includes proper yacht management, which can only be achieved with "a healthy balance on board, given that each step is linked to the other, for better or for worse, and the contribution of each individual has a significant impact on the team."

"I've been a seafarer for over 35 years, 15 of which were spent as president of A.Ma.Di.Campania," Gennaro Irpino continues. "In all these years, I've always been welcomed into the cathedral of nautical excellence, in my skills, both on land and on board. I've listened a lot, and I've learned a lot. Today, at A.Ma.PY, we like to think that, for the future, there will always be a close link between professionalism and the cultural education of this profession."

The yachting sector attracts significant economic interest for companies, so a masterfully constructed and expertly sailed yacht also requires good communication skills on board. These are often lacking, but they are the foundation for a successful crew. This scenario opens up new avenues of quality work, or closes them off entirely when there's a misunderstanding.

Often, emphasizes the new president of A.Ma.PY, "shipowners are faced with a lack of professionalism among their crew, and they encourage us to intervene to train truly qualified seafarers, a rarity these days. Many claim to be professionals but in reality aren't, and unfortunately, shipowners only realize this once the person is on board."

"For this reason," Irpino continues, "personally, as a Seafarer, a Captain with specific qualifications and qualifications to operate a vessel, I felt the need to train in a context different from those of the STCW directives and international conventions. I asked myself how I could make an additional contribution in terms of support and growth for myself and others. To find comfort in this, I joined the authoritative Coaching Institute (the Coaching Club), which I still attend. Today, with the new skills I've acquired and specific specializations in the coaching sector, I can guide Seafarers as far as possible in their various professional paths and with fewer cognitive distortions, just as I can support shipowners and companies in pursuing serene goals and making increasingly comfortable choices. We at A.Ma.PY will continue our journey with peace of mind and, above all, confident that we are making a contribution to those in need."
