A+ Lurssen

From today until June 15th, political leaders from the seven powers—Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Italy, the United Kingdom, and the United States—are meeting in Borgo Egnazia, a town about fifteen kilometers from the port of Monopoli. They will also meet with EU representatives, other heads of state (including Volodymyr Zelensky), and institutional figures.

For days now, for security reasons, the Apulian port of Monopoli, like other neighboring ports, has not allowed docking except for law enforcement and will remain closed to traffic and vehicular parking until June 18. Around a dozen vessels are docked in the port, mostly from the Guardia di Finanza (Finance Police), but also from the Fire Brigade and other unidentified forces, as shown on the Vessel Finder website. Even more are sailing along the coast to protect the G7 event.

In this military setting, moored at the Molo Tramontana in the port of Monopoli, a giga yacht appeared two days ago, almost like a mirage. Various theories have circulated as to the reason for its presence, the most likely being—given the context—that it was used for security purposes. However, given the event, the confidentiality surrounding this type of information is absolute.

According to information gathered by SUPER YACHT 24, the giga yacht moored in Monopoli is A+, a 147-meter Lürssen, and hosts representatives of the United Arab Emirates.

Sheikh Mansour, a member of the Abu Dhabi royal family, was, and may still be, an owner of A+. Mansour, in addition to being the owner of Manchester City, has played a significant role in Emirati public policy.

The A+ vessel was built by the German shipyard in 2012 and, at 147 meters, is the eighth longest in the world. She has a beam of 21,5 meters, a draft of 5,6 meters, and a capacity of 12.532 gross tonnage. Built with a steel hull and aluminum superstructure, she is powered by six Wärtsilä engines and can reach a top speed of 19,5 knots. Sheikh Mansour, her first owner, is the current owner of Blue, another 160-meter Lürssen, the fourth largest vessel in the world.
