Advanced Mechanical Solutions sets sail for Northern Europe
German and Dutch shipyards in the sights of the Ancona-based company, which closes 2023 with satisfactory results

Amsterdam (Netherlands) – METS is the leading trade fair for Advanced Mechanical Solutions, the only one where it exhibits directly. This year, too, the Dutch event proved to be instrumental in AMS's promotional efforts, as significant contacts were made with foreign shipyards on the first day of the show, even unexpected ones.
Francesco Pelizza, founder and director (as well as, de facto, technical director, sales director, head of research and development, etc. etc. “A bit too many things,” he jokes) of the Ancona-based company specializing in engineering services and products for the nautical industry, such as handling systems, hatches, masts, awnings, etc., tells Superyacht 24.
Pelizza, how did 2023, which is about to end, go?
"I'd say positively. We estimate a turnover of over €3 million, up from last year, and open orders of €3.5 million. We moved to our new headquarters in August 2022 and continue to experience very satisfactory growth."
Who are your main customers?
“First of all, almost all the shipyards in our area, starting with CRN and the leading brands of the Ferretti group, then Cantiere delle Marche, Wider, Isa and the Palumbo group, but also Sanlorenzo, Benetti and other sailing companies such as Solaris, Maxi Dolphin and Cantiere del Pardo. Among foreign manufacturers, we work with Lurssen, YYachts and are in negotiations with Dutch builders.”
What are your development directions?
We focus primarily on products and solutions that we develop almost entirely in-house, but for certain projects we collaborate with external companies, such as Videoworks for a new awning light that can be managed with on-board home automation. We continue to invest a significant portion of our revenue in research and development and want to expand into those Northern European markets where Mets is a point of reference for the latest innovations.
What are your flagship products?
Lurssen really liked our self-cleaning telescopic carbon mast, an innovation presented last year here in Amsterdam that solved major problems associated with this type of product. We recently installed a 21-square-meter retractable awning on a Benetti, the largest ever made of this type, which hides inside the boat's deckhouse. We also supplied a series of folding awnings to the same shipyard for a multi-yacht order that is still to be completed.
AMS currently has 23 employees and, although new hires are always possible, Pelizza intends to first consolidate the existing structure, particularly by strengthening the commercial side.
The company continues on a solid and progressive development path, proceeding step by step, as one might expect from a company with a clear engineering background.
