Baglietto partners with the European Institute of Design to attract new talent
The thesis project for the first level diploma in Transportation Design and Interior Design has been launched, which is based on a contemporary reinterpretation of an aluminum Fast vessel.

Baglietto has launched an initiative to attract new talent through a collaboration with the IED – European Institute of Design in Turin.
Last week, the La Spezia-based shipyard, led by Diego Michele De Prati, launched the thesis project for the bachelor's degree in Transportation Design and Interior Design at IED, the prestigious institute specializing in design. The future designers, assisted by Guido Penco, Baglietto's director of technical development, Professor Luca Sordelli, chair holder, and Marco Mastroeni, teaching coordinator, will be challenged to reinterpret an aluminum Fast boat.
The concept for the new yacht will incorporate the classic styling elements of Baglietto's planing yacht tradition, created by renowned designers such as Cichero and Paszkowski, reinterpreting them in a contemporary way while still meeting the key demands of today's market. These include generous volumes, especially for exterior spaces, close contact with the surrounding environment and the sea, especially aft, and a focus on sustainability.
The thesis project will conclude with the thesis defense at the end of the course.
"We are very happy with this collaboration with such a prestigious institution as IED," commented Raffaella Daino, Baglietto's communications manager, who was present at the project's "start and go." "I believe the theme we've proposed is very challenging for the students and will give them plenty of scope for creativity, both in design and implementation."
"This strategic partnership stems from Baglietto and IED Turin's shared desire to support academic excellence and provide future designers with hands-on experience in the naval design sector. Students in the three-year Transportation Design program will be able to apply their creativity and expertise by developing their thesis project in collaboration with professionals from a world-renowned company that represents the best of Italian tradition in a unique bridge between academia and industry," commented Michele Albera, coordinator of the three-year Transportation Design program at IED Turin.
