In 2023, Italy consolidated its Mediterranean primacy in superyacht landings
Led by Porto Cervo, Portofino and the Amalfi Coast, Italian destinations hosted 1.449 pleasure boats (+4%)

Porto Cervo, Portofino, and the Amalfi Coast. The pull of these three destinations, along with a general growth in arrivals along the entire Italian coast, have allowed Italy to further accelerate its growth, confirming its position as the Mediterranean's preferred destination for large-scale pleasure boating. This finding emerges from a study conducted by the Acquera Group's Analysis Center on the superyacht market, which has just released the first data on the 2023 luxury boat market.
Italy, France, and Greece confirmed their position as the top destinations for large-scale yachting, with Italy consolidating its lead. Overall, the three destinations saw a 12% increase compared to the previous season: Italian destinations saw 1.449 pleasure vessels, a 4% increase. Sixty percent of them sailed in Italian waters compared to the previous year, compared to 2022, which already had a 56% increase.
As mentioned, Porto Cervo, Portofino, and the Amalfi Coast are at the top of the list in Italy, with a very unique market structure: in the Gulf of Naples and Sardinia, large, super-luxury vessels stay for 10 to 15 days, establishing a true local presence, "the result of years (especially in Sardinia) of a hospitality policy aimed at high-end tourism," Acquera specifies.
Porto Cervo is considered – according to what emerges from this analysis – the “ultimate elite Mediterranean destination”, an area that, in addition to its natural beauty, also combines the quality of the services offered by the port, but also by boutiques and high-class restaurants.
Charm and allure are the factors that have led to a real boom in Portofino, the pearl of the Tigullio.
