Guido Orsi (Tankoa Yachts): "Ready to expand in Genoa and debut in Civitavecchia"
In Sestri Ponente there is a good chance of a project to build four new floodable warehouses for the construction of yachts between 50 and 80 metres, while in Lazio hulls will be built

Cannes (France) – Tankoa Yachts is working to significantly expand its production capacity at its Genoa Sestri Ponente facility and is soon preparing to launch hull construction operations in Civitavecchia. Guido Orsi, the shipyard's marketing and communications manager (and son of the majority shareholder), made the announcement during the press conference presenting the new T560 Apache megayacht.
"We are engaged in fruitful discussions with the City of Genoa and the Liguria Region regarding the possibility of implementing a mini-floating facility at sea, replicating on a smaller scale what was done at the nearby Fincantieri shipyard. This would allow us to expand our operating space. These areas would be added to the approximately 3.000 square meters of covered land recently added to the shipyard, dedicated to specialty work such as carpentry, painting, joinery, and the production of custom-made Tankoa swimming pools," explains Orsi. Last July, Tankoa announced that it was considering increasing its production space by reorganizing the two existing warehouses to be able to build three yachts simultaneously. At Cannes, Orsi revealed that the mini-floating facility would, in the best-case scenario, allow the shipyard to have "four floodable warehouses measuring 80, 70, 60, and 50 meters for the outfitting of as many superyachts." Regarding the timeframe for this project, he estimated "three years is a reasonable timeframe for this increase in production capacity. There's excellent collaboration with the Region and the Municipality."
Not only is Genoa the site of new developments for Tankoa, but plans for the port of Civitavecchia also seem to be finally taking shape for the company led by CEO Vincenzo Poerio. "Our plan for Civitavecchia is to build hulls and then bring part of the welding work in-house. This work, which until now has been outsourced, will be brought in-house, thus benefiting from direct control over the quality of the work performed," explained Orsi. He added that "in Civitavecchia, operations will begin almost immediately on a third of the available space on the former Privilege. The Port Authority will make the areas available for both logistics and naval carpentry activities."
