I must thank this industry, because when you have companies that are able to narrate, produce, and demonstrate Italian excellence, as the nautical industry has done in recent years, employing Italian workers, creating a supply chain that employs over 200 workers in Italy, while respecting our tradition—the tradition of our excellence, which produces €7 billion in revenue, and which inevitably also flows into the Italian state coffers and accounts for a portion of the resources the Italian state can spend—I believe it is the government of this nation that should come here and have the humility and responsibility to say thank you for the work this sector has represented and for the excellence it has recounted around the world."
The Prime Minister then added: "I also came because this is a government that has chosen to focus a portion of its strategic decisions precisely on the issue of the sea. The sea is one of the most strategic infrastructures Italy has, and it is essential to have a strategy for how to best create synergy between all the players operating in the maritime economy. As you know, the Sea Plan was presented last week: there is a specific ministry that deals with this matter and that brought together all the players in this sector. It brought them around the table, listened to the needs of those sectors, gathered the input from the companies operating in those sectors, developed a strategy, and wrote it down in a Plan. Mr. President, there is no need for me to remind the ministers of the commitments they have made, because in the next Budget Law, we have a related document dedicated to the maritime economy. In the related document, we will gather the needs and proposals coming from the various sectors, including the nautical sector with its need for simplification.
