A. Tureddi: "In Monaco to present two yacht lines under our brand."

Among the new projects is also the opening of luxury cocktail bars and lounges in the capitals of the great nautical world.

Pisa – SUPER YACHT 24 meets Alessandro Tureddi, president of the Tureddi shipyard, a true Viareggio-based company with facilities also in Pisa's Darsena dei Navicelli, boasting forty years of experience. Tureddi is now a revitalized company, led by a young and clearly minded board of directors, ready to launch major innovations.

The Tureddi shipyard is currently undergoing a transformation: shall we start by recounting its 'first forty years'?

The company was founded by my father Andrea, now General Manager Tureddi, with a 'caulking soul' focused on iron. It has a heritage as a subcontractor for shipyards that built large workships, but over the years, with the development of the nautical industry, it has shifted its focus to building large yachts. Our clients have always included the biggest names in the Italian nautical industry, including Benetti, for whom we still fully support the B.Yond line, Codecasa, for whom we also worked on the famous 65-meter Main and Regina d'Italia, and many others.

What triggered this renewal phase and what does it involve?

"Over the past three years, under the leadership of the second generation—which I represent—we have embarked on a journey from subcontractors to our own brand, which we will officially present in the coming days. We feel confident in this choice thanks to our highly experienced collaborators who have always carried out this work, and not only with regard to hulls and superstructures: over the years, we have also built and delivered finished boats, including the interiors. This new business will, however, be supported by our usual subcontractor work. We intend to build 5-6 boats a year; this is to maintain our artisanal philosophy."

How did you organize yourselves and what stages have you already completed?

We've begun a reorganization process and created a group where my contribution, coming from an economics background, was initially focused on economics and finance. I've dedicated myself to creating a new, stable company with branches that can operate independently without having to rely on non-direct staff. The brand was born with the collaboration of highly experienced architects, and the result is the two full-custom production lines that we will officially present at our stand at the next Monaco Yachting Show. The presentation, which took place in a more private setting a few days ago to regular customers who joined us in our lounge area outside the show on a pier in Cannes, filled us with satisfaction.

Can you give us a preview of the details of these two new lines of full-custom Tureddi superyachts that you will be presenting at the Mys?

The first line is an explorer yacht created with Paolo Dose's Trieste-based studio Vyd, ranging from 37 to 52 meters. The second, created with Leonardo Cecchi's Florence-based studio ArDeMo, is a classic line ranging from 35 to 52 meters, scalable into three versions.

We chose to build two different types of boats, with two different types of customers in mind: the explorer is for the owner who loves to travel extensively and for long periods. For him, we wanted a RINA Ice Class certified boat that can reach the North Pole and sail ocean routes. To make it fully livable, we've included every possible comfort, working hard to optimize the interior spaces, which, as is typical for this type of yacht, are smaller in favor of the exterior. Naturally, there's also a swimming pool in the stern and a garage with all the toys.

The other line instead?

The other line is dedicated to owners who love to have fun. Designed by architect Leonardo Cecchi, it has a sleek, youthful line and boasts every comfort inside: from spacious cabins to a party-friendly salon, a salon-sized flybridge, and a pool on the upper deck, which adds light and atmosphere to the outdoor dining area. Cecchi is a designer who focuses heavily on light, and he has succeeded in using a combination of colors and materials to incredibly illuminate this boat's interior. Its bow is straight, in keeping with current trends, but this aspect, like others, is left to the owner's discretion.

The largest boats of the two lines can accommodate up to 12 guests and, while maintaining all the comforts, their internal volumes are less than 500 GT.”

How are these superyachts powered?

"All models are set up to be hybrids with MAN engines and Siemens electric motors. Those who prefer conventional power will benefit from the classic MAN."

Are there any green projects that Tureddi is particularly interested in?

We are exploring revamping projects, a modernization process that we believe truly embodies the 'green' concept in all its phases. Starting with a decommissioned supply vessel, thanks to an engineering and architectural study, we can achieve a hull line that is attractive in the yacht genre. In a complete refit, the superstructures are built from scratch, and the hull is often modified at the bow to better adapt it to the yacht line. In this type of vessel, the large engine room allows for larger systems, such as the one needed for hydrogen, while the smaller guest spaces can be increased by adding additional floors. Once the revamping process is complete, the vessel will still appeal to a niche audience in terms of both taste and affordability (being deeper, it must navigate in areas with adequate depths), but it has the advantage of a lower construction cost. In addition to the great satisfaction of being able to build a vessel that best embodies the green concept, from recycling onwards, there is confidence that in the coming years, Even with the push of the Lürssen hydrogen boat project, the structures will be careful to adapt to the new fuel.”

Meanwhile, in your shipyards, the production of six is proceeding superyachts, including one that will be the first to be launched under your brand; what is it?

"It's a fast, 37-meter open yacht and will be the first yacht to leave the shipyard, after its completion scheduled for late summer 2024, under the Tureddi brand. It's for an American client and will be presented this year in Fort Lauderdale."

What do you foresee as your future developments?

"Since last May, we've already embarked on a major initiative, uniting the worlds of food and beverage, namely hospitality, with the nautical industry by opening a luxury cocktail bar and lounge at our Viareggio headquarters—an Art Nouveau building in the city center. Here, in the lounge, we've created an area where our current and potential clients can meet, even privately, with our personal brokers or crew, or with other stakeholders to facilitate project development, decision-making, and networking. We'll open a second in London in December, then one in Dubai next April, and finally one in Monaco in October: all strategic locations for our industry. It's a significant project, also in terms of financial investment, in which we strongly believe, and which has already proven to be highly appreciated and effective in achieving its objectives."
