The next future of Extra Yachts will be the new X98 Rph and X90 Fast
The evolution of the new series compared to the previous one is in its more elegant and sharp lines. The X98 features a distinctive, almost invisible half bridge.

Cannes (France) – Extra Yachts, a Palumbo Superyachts brand, presented its new Extra lineup at the Cannes Yachting Festival. This evolution of the range, the shipyard explained, remains faithful to the brand's hallmarks—characterized by large volumes and generous interior and exterior spaces—but renews the profile lines for a sleeker, more elegant design.
These are the models in the new line curated by the Milanese Hot Lab studio: the sporty two-deck X90 Fast, a continuation of the previous Fast line; and a mature model with two and a half decks, a true innovation introduced with the first X98-footer, which will form the Rph line; and finally, an evolution of the three-deck model, a best-selling model in the Triplex range. Currently under construction, the X90 Fast will be presented at the next 2024 boat shows.
“These projects are aimed at mature owners with diverse characteristics, but they share a unique and unmistakable brand philosophy that has distinguished Extra Yachts on the market to date,” commented Enrico Lumini, founding partner of Hot Lab, who declared himself delighted to be able to contribute to the expansion of the Extra Yachts range.
Going into the details of the boats: the X90 Fast model is the sportiest and most compact of the renewed Extra range. Created based on the extensive experience gained with the 76, 86, 88, and 99 models, it has a proven and efficient layout: a spacious day lounge, separated from the aft cockpit by the customary galley with sliding windows, which not only acts as a break between the two areas, but in this new model also becomes a transitional space and distribution of flow: from here, in fact, the crew reaches their quarters, located forward of the engine room, and it is also here that we find access to the sundeck (also possible via the external walkway). All this to leave the foredeck lounge and the helm station free from secondary flows and, when necessary, for the exclusive use of guests.
The outdoor spaces are the true strength of the X90, with a generous 86 square meters of space that encourages contact with the environment and the sea. The design is sleek and clean, thanks in part to the effect of hidden hull windows.
Below deck, there are four double cabins with private bathrooms, with the master cabin amidships to take advantage of the 7,1-meter maximum beam. Two cabins with private bathrooms are available for the crew of four.
The X90 Fast is powered by three 1000 hp Volvo Penta IPS 1350 engines, allowing for a maximum design speed of 30 knots. Cruising speed is 24 knots, while at 12 knots the range is 1000 nautical miles.
The X98 Rph concept model is instead the forerunner of this new design philosophy, it has a more contemporary style than previous models, but closely follows their approach.
Featuring a two-and-a-half deck layout, the half deck is hidden by the exterior design, completely concealing its volumes, leading the observer to think it's a classic two-deck with a flybridge. This subtle design trick allowed Hot Lab to create an elegant, clean vessel that also offers interior and exterior spaces unimaginable in a traditional two-deck model.
In addition to the main deck saloon, which forms a single unit with the aft cockpit, the yacht features a spacious master stateroom forward, as well as a galley and a day head. Below deck, there are four double cabins with ensuite bathrooms. The helm station is located on the mezzanine, which leads to the sundeck.
The X98 Rph demonstrates great versatility, offering over 140 square meters of guest areas and over 100 square meters of outdoor space despite its compact and sinuous design. The crew of four is divided into two cabins with private bathrooms.
This yacht is powered by three 1000 hp Volvo Penta IPS 1350 engines, giving it a top design speed of 28 knots. The cruising speed is 22 knots, while at 12 knots, the range is 1500 nautical miles.
