Studio Names unveils two Tankoa T450s under construction
Both already sold, one will be launched next autumn and the other in 2024. The challenge, faced and won by the design studio, was to create a model under 50 metres and under 500 GT in a modern style with a traditional construction with a steel hull and light alloy decks, a displacement hull with shaft drive.

Tankoa has entrusted Francesco Rogantin's Studio Names with the naval architecture of its two T450 superyachts (Hull 108 and Hull 111), as well as the basic design and part of the engineering in collaboration with the shipyard's technical office.
The two 45-meter superyachts, both exterior and interior designed by Giorgio Cassetta, are built of steel and light alloy with a displacement hull. The first launch will be the C111 next fall, while the C108 will be launched in 2024.
The shipyard's brief to Studio Names – explains Francesco Rogantin – was quite simple in formulation but complex to implement: for the first time, the designers were asked to conceive of a Tankoa that was modern in its lines and traditional in its technical choices, but above all, under 50 meters in length and under 500 GT, which immediately made it the shipyard's first work with these characteristics.
"The choice of 45 meters both met the shipyard's requirements and allowed us to remain close to the rest of the production line," Rogantin continues. "Our firm was tasked with overseeing the naval architecture, all basic design, and part of the executive design, including the structural, propulsion, mechanical, and system layouts. This was a relatively simple task considering the shipyard's brief, which called for a traditional construction with a steel hull and light-alloy decks, and a displacement hull with shaft drive. Our efforts were therefore focused on optimizing all our expertise for this new size, making the Tankoa T450 a benchmark among vessels under 50 meters. The shipyard's complete satisfaction and the sale of both sister ships confirm the soundness of our project."
The hull was tank-tested at the Dutch company Marin, one of the world's most respected, while the exterior and interior design was entrusted to Giorgio Cassetta, who was able to combine traditional construction with lines decidedly closer to the latest superyacht design trends. The shipyard then began production of the two 'sister ships'. on spec Rightly confident in the project's success. Their confidence was well-founded, as both were sold in a relatively short time.
"The two yachts are essentially identical," explains Francesco Rogantin. "The main difference is the bow area, which on the C111 is more open, while the owner of the C108 wanted it more enclosed, with a tender garage."
The two Tankoa T450 superyachts are 45 metres long with a maximum beam of 8,90 m. They are powered by twin Man D2862 V12 engines with a displacement of 24,2 litres and a total power output of almost 3 hp, which are capable of propelling the yacht to a cruising speed of 14 knots and a range of 4 nautical miles.
On board, there are six cabins for 12 guests, including the owner's stateroom, while five cabins are for the crew of nine. The Tankoa T450 C111 is scheduled for launch in autumn 2023, with her sister ship C108 due next year.
