Seafarers at Rixi: "Our involvement in the reform of professional qualifications in recreational boating is lacking."
Roberto Panizzutt, on behalf of Amadi first and foremost but also of AMTC Terracina, Marittimi Argentario and Italian Yacht Masters, hopes that the measures contained in the accepted reform will allow for the removal of obstacles to the careers of Italian officers.

We are pleased (so to speak) to learn from the press (Here is the article from SUPER YACHT 24) that the reform of professional qualifications in recreational boating appears to be “on the home straight”.
The various associations representing yachtsmen have been loudly repeating for years that a reform of the relevant legislation—Ministerial Decree 121, dating back to 2005—is necessary. However, since all communication with the Ministry of Transport has been virtually nonexistent for just as many years, they had no direct knowledge of the work in progress. In truth, thanks to unofficial reports, under-the-radar information, and the use of well-connected acquaintances in the corridors of power who evidently knew how to push the right buttons, we managed to establish tentative contact with the Department responsible for the matter and to provide some opinions from "insiders" on a very vague draft amendment to the aforementioned Decree.
We're also pleased to hear that Deputy Minister Rixi believes that "if we all sat around a table, we could reach an agreement in two hours instead of six months." However, it would also be important to know who these "all" are, since the seafarers' representatives, namely the associations that once sat at the ministry's tables, have been completely uninformed about the progress of the work. We will therefore have to wait and see the text of this reform published, which, as it says in the article, will probably see the light during the next Genoa Boat Show in September.
Generally speaking, we don't have high hopes, but we hope to be pleasantly proven wrong when we read that at least some of our proposals (drafted by AMADI, AMTC Terracina, Marittimi Argentario, and Italian Yacht Master) have been accepted and that the obstacles to seafarers' careers have finally been removed.
The entire Italian nautical sector would benefit from it and our young people would no longer be forced to resort to foreign certifications in order to work.
