Palumbo continues to accelerate its sustainability efforts
The group is also strengthening its green footprint on the refit front, having started a collaboration with Rina

An event for the Julius Baer Sustainability Circle members held at the Yacht Club de Monaco was an opportunity for the Palumbo group to present its projects related to this theme, now a top priority for the entire yachting world, especially high-end ones.
Palumbo's refit division was the main participant in the panel, with Luciano Bregola, general manager of the Marseille shipyard, presenting the company's main lines of action.
"Palumbo Superyacht Refit is well positioned in terms of sustainability. We are working with RINA to study the potential of new fuels that reduce carbon dioxide emissions and the gradual replacement of fossil fuels with renewable energy. Sustainability, however, starts with people's mindset and then develops through industrial processes," commented Bregola.
The company is working on several projects across the group's various sites.
The first is the use of eco-sustainable paints in refit work, to avoid damage to marine flora and fauna, but there is also the use of LED lighting and solar panels, which the group intends to install in all its shipyards in the Mediterranean by 2025.
All forklifts and high-pressure pumps have also been converted to renewable energy, with a view to reducing both harmful emissions and noise.
The Research & Development activity, conducted together with RINA, in addition to the aforementioned fuel analysis, also includes the use of lithium, hydrogen, and methanol batteries.
Palumbo's stated goal is to achieve leadership in sustainability, both in new construction and in refits.
