Titi explains the circular sent by Federagenti Yacht to clarify matters regarding non-EU seafarers.
"We wanted to disseminate it to avoid competitive distortions and silence information that could harm Italy as a destination for pleasure boats."

"A notice distributed as widely as possible to market insiders to avoid competitive distortions and silence information that could harm the Italian destination for pleasure boats." This is how Teo Titi explained to SUPER YACHT 24 the letterheaded communication from Federagenti's Yacht section, which appeared publicly online in recent days and was sent to numerous superyacht brokerage and management firms. The letter reiterates once again that the problem of yacht crews remaining in Italy has been largely resolved.
The issue of the movement of non-EU seafarers following the implementation in Italy of a 2020 ruling by the European Court of Justice It had held sway again last December at the Genova For Yachting meeting because the effects of that affair had led for many months in Genoa and beyond to a lower number of transits and permanence of large pleasure ships, especially in shipyards and marinas.
Teo Titi prefers not to state it directly but it is no mystery that France and Spain are the two competing countries that have regularly tried in the past, and apparently again recently, to put the destination Italy in a bad light in the eyes of shipowners and captains for permanent moorings and refits during the winter months.
"With the issuing of the D Visa, our country clarified that a non-EU seafarer can stay in Italy for 365 days. Since it is a new Visa, there are still some disconnects between the competent Ministries (Interior and Foreign Affairs) and the Consulates, but things are now working and therefore there is no longer any basis for discrediting our country on this aspect," Titi further emphasizes.
The disclosure of this clarification to Federagenti Yacht seems to have hit the mark, as "we've received positive feedback from many shipowners, charter agencies, brokers, and so on. They thanked us and confirmed the importance of sending a positive and reassuring message to the market," adds the president of the association of maritime agents and brokers.
