Lusben has a new three-year investment plan worth nearly €20 million.
The Livorno shipyard will be able to accommodate up to three vessels over 100 meters in length simultaneously. Redevelopment is also underway in Varazze.

The Lusben shipyard, a company active in the yacht refit and repair sector for over sixty years, has announced a renewed corporate structure thanks to the appointment of Giorgio Casareto as general manager and a major new investment plan. The rapidly expanding company is targeting the international market and plans major investments over the next three years to strengthen its offering. This announcement follows the words of Paolo and Giovanna Vitelli, president and vice president of the Azimut Benetti Group, who: a few weeks ago they announced SUPER YACHT 24 the 12 million euro investment to strengthen the Lusben shipyard in Livorno. “We are chasing the number one in terms of turnover (the Amico & Co shipyard, ed) and we want to beat it soon. We believe this is a completion of our business" explained Paolo Vitelli.
There are many exciting developments coming to this business division, including new management appointments and an investment plan for 2023. Giorgio Casareto will be responsible for continuing Lusben's expansion, leveraging his extensive experience in the nautical industry. Specifically, he will work on a program to strengthen the refitting department aimed at boosting the significant growth forecasted in the business plan for the coming years. He will be joined by Giovanni Paladino, who takes on the role of commercial director, having gained experience in senior positions in sales and project management within major international industrial groups. He will be responsible for appropriately developing the sales structure to increase the company's market presence.
Giovanni Paladino's arrival completes the new corporate structure reporting to the general manager. This structure already includes Alessandro Lazzerini as operations director, responsible for production, planning, logistics, and project management for the construction sites, as well as Leonardo Santini as procurement manager, responsible for integrating the purchasing structure for the three sites and harmonizing their strategies. All functions within the company's Livorno, Viareggio, and Varazze offices report to the new corporate organization.
The investments also include a specific strategy to expand the services offered, to meet the growing needs of Italian and international operators and shipowners.
"Given the steady increase in major and complex orders won by Lusben in recent years, the need arose to expand the operational facilities in Varazze and Livorno, providing them with new equipment and advanced technologies. These are vital elements to support the growing demand already recorded and expected in the future, while also offering increasingly diversified and comprehensive services, which can be customized based on the different needs of customers," the shipyard explains in a statement.
The group also specifies that its 2023 investment plan includes expanding the Livorno production site, including through the acquisition of the docks, which dates back to May 2022. Renovation work is currently underway for a total investment of €12 million. Upon completion, the total area will have grown to 220.000 square meters, including 90.000 square meters of shipyard space, with a 130.000 square meter body of water in front. "This extremely innovative and unique operation will allow us to simultaneously accommodate up to three vessels over 100 meters in length ashore, in addition to those already regularly hosted," adds Lusben. This will increase the total number of available berths on land to 35, while those in the water will increase to 32. The site also has a 2.400-ton synchro-lift, a 180-meter-long floating dock with a capacity of 18.000 tons, and an enclosed dock dedicated to mooring work.
The Varazze site is also undergoing an ambitious redevelopment plan, currently in the planning phase, which entails an investment of approximately €7 million. The area has 15 dry dock berths, in addition to the 12 sea berths in the marina. Upon completion of the work, guest services will also be available in the crew area.
