Benetti has launched FB283, a new 62-meter full-custom yacht.

The owner had expressed the desire to own a pleasure vessel that had four fundamental characteristics: speed, silence, autonomy for long voyages and guaranteed fun for the family.

The Azimut Benetti Group announced that the launch ceremony for FB283, a new 62-meter Benetti Full Custom superyacht with a steel hull and aluminum superstructure, took place recently (January 26th) at its Livorno shipyard. The entire project, starting from a blank sheet of paper, was designed by Giorgio Cassetta, who designed the exterior and interior. The waterlines are by the Dutch firm Van Oossanen Naval Architects.

The owner had expressed his desire for a yacht with four key characteristics: speed, quiet operation, long-distance cruising, and guaranteed family fun. He was represented by Nicola Nicolai of Nicolai Yacht Consulting & Project Management, who acted as a consultant prior to the purchase and managed the entire construction process as the owner's representative and project manager.

"FB283's exterior features extremely elegant lines, with a sleek bow and a stern that slopes down towards the sea. This, combined with a fast displacement hull, carefully designed by Benetti together with Van Oossanen Naval Architects, allows for excellent performance," reads the statement from the shipyard. FB283 has a top speed of 21 knots and, at the same time, a range that allows for long, non-stop cruises.

Benetti's description adds: "Cassetta and his Rome-based studio have created a masterpiece of harmony, achieving state-of-the-art essentiality with flowing surfaces. This coherence of lines can be considered one of the studio's trademarks. Cassetta has eliminated every superfluous element in the exterior design to achieve maximum surface continuity, leaving the bare minimum of openings and empty spaces. Seen from any angle, the yacht invites the observer to run an invisible hand over its surfaces, as smooth as a rock polished by a river."

Deck elements, such as the massive, oval-shaped well-maintained decks, the natural teak panels, and the solid wood and stone furnishings, give the vessel a superyacht feel. Having been commissioned by the owner to design both the exterior and interior, Cassetta added striking details to integrate the spaces, such as the magnificent 6 x 2 meter floor-to-ceiling windows on both the main and upper decks.

Dedicated to onboard comfort and conviviality, the FB283 was specifically designed for family life: numerous storage areas offer space for all types of water toys and aquatic fun equipment, including scuba diving equipment. The side-door garage is a veritable cathedral at the bow on the upper deck and houses a 10-meter tender, two jet skis, and a second tender. A touch & go helipad allows the owner and his guests to reach the yacht from anywhere.

The construction of FB283, which began during the 2020 lockdown, led the shipyard to adopt innovative and functional solutions. Thanks to the 3D technology used throughout the project, internal video calls to keep the owner constantly updated, and completely new work methods and schedules, Benetti has demonstrated its ability to leverage its expertise and winning production and engineering processes to create a one-of-a-kind full-custom yacht.
