Baglietto and Effebi at the 28th edition of Euronaval
The two Italian shipyards announced their innovations in the field of naval defense and maritime security at the biennial edition of the Parisian world exhibition.

The 28th World Naval Defense Exhibition, "Euronaval," opens today at the Paris-le-Bouget convention center in Paris. It will run until Friday, July 21st, and will showcase all the latest developments in the naval defense and maritime security sector.
Among the Italian participants in the exhibition, the Baglietto Navy, the military division of the historic shipyard based in La Spezia, has announced its commercial partnership, already previewed at SUPERYACHT 24, with the Mst Group, based in Bromborough (UK), a company specializing in the design and construction of military naval units up to 32m in length.
The agreement was reached thanks to the active collaboration of Giuseppe Censabella, representative of Metco Metals, MST Group's Italian agent, who will also be responsible for promoting and supporting Baglietto Navy's specific commercial activities. The partnership between the two companies includes the exchange and sharing of expertise and technologies, as well as support and assistance at their respective locations. Furthermore, the joint venture will allow both companies to participate in tenders with Italian and/or foreign defense agencies (Port Authorities, Carabinieri, etc.) for the production of vessels and vessels of dimensions that fall outside their specific core businesses. Baglietto will dedicate a specialized team and part of its infrastructure to support MST in all commissioning and final delivery activities of the Italian supplies.
"I am very pleased with this agreement," commented Diego Michele Deprati, CEO of Baglietto, "which marks an important step for our shipyard in the military sector and allows us to expand our expertise and open up many new opportunities in this area, a sector in which the Baglietto brand has historically been a benchmark since its inception." Philip Hilbert, Commercial Director of MST Group, also expressed great satisfaction: "We are absolutely delighted and honored by this partnership with Baglietto Navy, a division of the most prestigious and long-standing shipyard in the sector. This agreement further consolidates our respective leading positions in the sector, and once combined, we will produce first-class vessels for the Italian market."
The other Italian company participating in the Parisian event was Effebi, a shipyard specializing in the military and commercial sectors. It has been operating for over 30 years in the construction of composite vessels up to 50 meters, and is a leading supplier to governments and public entities in Italy and Europe. "Euronaval is an unmissable event for us, and our participation in this 28th edition is a great opportunity to showcase the latest projects and collaborations we have been involved in over the past two years—difficult years, as we well know, in an equally challenging sector like the military," said Katia Balducci, managing director of Effebi Spa. She also explained that over the past two years, she has consolidated a consulting and product supply relationship with the Guardia di Finanza, meeting its diverse needs. This has resulted in an order book with a particular focus on ecology, functionality, workplace comfort, and, of course, safety. She also recently secured the reordering of 20 hybrid patrol boats. Another new development brought to the show by the Viareggio-based company is the launch in early 2021 of the 44-meter fast patrol vessel "Tenente Petrucci," the first vessel to be delivered to the Corps in June 2021. The vessel was built following the award of the tender launched by the Guardia di Finanza, co-financed by the EU under the Internal Security Fund (Frontex) in 2019. This result recognized the shipyard's commitment to investing in innovation and safety for its vessels. Finally, Balducci recalled the delivery at the Bari naval station, in the presence of the Corps' highest officials, of the first interceptor vessel built following the tender launched in 2021: a 16,5-meter vessel, unprecedented in the Guardia di Finanza fleet, capable of reaching a speed of 68 knots in complete stability. The Corps needed a vessel capable of operating in particularly rough seas, enabling it to carry out police duties and effectively counter illicit trafficking perpetrated by high-speed vessels, as well as consolidating its role as the sole police force at sea.
