The success of the Genoa Boat Show boosts the entire industry
The positive trend continues (+10% visitors); with the new district, the event is poised to become a European leader again.

Numbers, as we know, aren't everything, but they are a lot, and those of the 62nd Genoa Boat Show all have a plus sign in front.
In addition to those already announced at the opening (998 brands represented, 1.000 boats on display, including 168 new ones), Confindustria Nautica also reeled off the final results, which confirm the strong moment of the Italian industry, driven by the record turnover of the large shipbuilding groups, with Azimut Benetti, Ferretti, Sanlorenzo and The Italian Sea Group leading the way.
Over 103 visitors attended the six-day exhibition at the Genoa Fair, representing a 10,7% increase over last year, just above the 9,7% increase in employment generated by the sector.
The turnout on Monday the 26th and Tuesday the 27th was significant and clearly visible, as these are the days typically chosen by professional operators and passionate boaters to visit the show, avoiding the weekend crowds. A very good sign, indeed.
In short, the nautical industry continues to thrive, and the Genoa Boat Show has once again become a powerful tool for promoting the national industry, with a turnover of 6,1 billion euros.
This trend is set to strengthen in the future, gradually moving our show out of the somewhat awkward position it occupies today, squeezed between Cannes and Monte Carlo, dates still chosen by major shipyards producing super and megayachts as a privileged showcase for launching their new products internationally.
The Genoa Boat Show will already have 200 additional berths for the 2023 edition, according to the organizers, who are working closely with all local authorities, especially the Municipality and Region, with the stated goal of restoring the event to a position of absolute leadership, including as a business platform for high-end and ultra-high-end manufacturers.
The completion of the new city waterfront project will guarantee the 2024 show sufficient space for everyone on land and in the water, an asset that is lacking, and will continue to be lacking, in Cannes and Monte Carlo for morphological reasons.
At that point it will be up to the (large) shipyards to decide where and when to preview their new (large) boats, and the Genoese context in terms of scenery and facilities will have nothing to envy of the other competitors, on the contrary.
A pact between Italy's major players to select Genoa as the venue for their "premieres" and thus affirm the national show's primacy is an idea that has been discussed several times but which could actually come to fruition within a couple of years.
In the meantime, we're enjoying the closing of a truly successful edition, and never mind if many operators had to pack their bags while the show was still open to rush to Monte Carlo for the Monaco Yacht Show.
The 63rd Genoa International Boat Show will take place from 21 to 26 September 2023. Others have been warned.
