The keel of Wider's first 72-meter Moonflower was laid in Marghera.
Designed by Nauta Design, it will be equipped with a latest-generation hybrid propulsion system comprising two variable-speed generators of 1860kW each, supplied by MAN Energy Solutions, and a nickel-sodium battery bank of approximately 1MW from FZSoNick.

During an exclusive ceremony in the Port of Marghera (Venice), the keel was laid for Moonflower, Wider's 72-meter full-custom yacht designed by Nauta Design. The shipyard announced the keel laying ceremony, noting that this is the first full-custom project following the brand's recapitalization by Marcello Maggi and W-Fin Sarl, the holding company that owns 100% of Wider's capital. In addition to its headquarters in Ancona and the imminent start of operations at its new shipyard in Fano, Wider chose Porto Marghera as its third construction site due to its prime location.
"Venice, a global icon thanks to its artistic beauty and lagoon, yet also rich in maritime and shipbuilding traditions, has always fascinated me," explains Marcello Maggi. "We chose the Porto Marghera production terminal because this district embodies all the characteristics we were looking for: adequate space, extensive expertise gained over decades of metalworking, and the cultural and artistic allure of Venice. All this is underpinned by our experience in yacht construction. We have all the elements to ensure we're building a highly technological product."
The announcement further explains that "Moonflower's clean, linear design, devoid of superfluous frills, is a hallmark of Nauta Design. Balanced proportions, seamless interior/exterior connections, and extensive use of glass add lightness and visual grace. A key design feature is the patented 'The Island' concept, an extendable aft beach/beach club with fold-down bulwarks that encompasses three sides of the aft area."

Furthermore, great attention has been paid to recovering energy lost in the form of heat from the electric propulsion system, as well as to optimising the operation of the on-board equipment to increase their efficiency.
The Moonflower 72 is scheduled for delivery in 2025.
