Perini Navi unveils its 47-meter sloop
There are many innovations on this 47-metre vessel from the shipyard that will improve the performance and efficiency of the sailing yacht.

The new sloop from Perini Navi, the Viareggio-based shipyard specializing in sailing superyachts, will be built in aluminum with a carbon fiber mast and will be over 62 meters long. A few months ago, it became part of Giovanni Costantino's The Italian Sea Group (TISG) shipbuilding group.
Some international media are reporting the first images of this 47-meter sailing superyacht, which has a redesigned hull to improve performance and efficiency: to maintain a constant heel angle, it has an extended waterline of 43 meters and a straight, deep V-shaped bow.
Further improvements in hull efficiency and seaworthiness have been achieved thanks to a newly designed variable draft keel. The keel box—the fixed part of the keel itself—has been reduced, allowing for a maximum draft of 11 meters, while the minimum draft is reduced to just 3,9 meters when the keel is raised, allowing the yacht to easily access shallow bays and coastal cruising grounds.
Among the new sloop's innovations, scheduled for delivery in 2024, is a new sail management system. The mast will have a 1.275-square-square upwind sail, including the mainsail and jib. The rig will include a self-tracking sail with a transverse track and a removable staysail. Two winches stored below deck will control the mainsail halyard and sheet.
The sloop has a beam of 10,5 meters and a gross tonnage of 390 GT, placing it at the top of its class compared to other sailing yachts of similar length. It can accommodate up to ten guests in four en-suite cabins and features a generous convertible master study for maximum flexibility.
The 47-meter vessel will feature twin rudders synchronized via a fly-by-wire system to increase maneuverability while cruising and accessing ports. It will also feature a 6,5-meter tender with a hidden garage at the bow of the yacht and a dedicated crane to facilitate launching and re-floating operations.
When not under sail, the yacht will rely on a Cat engine with 533 kW/h at 2100 rpm and two main generators of 86 kW/h each. Maximum peak speed is estimated at around 13 knots, while a range of 3.500 nautical miles is expected at 10 knots.
For hospitality, Perini Navi has designed a comfortable and elegant interior for its guests, while the exterior features a large swimming platform and a generous flybridge with wide passageways and easy access to every part of the yacht. All the design comes from the in-house Perini Navi team, as is standard practice.
Even before the restyling was presented, TISG founder and CEO Giovanni Costantino had hinted at an upcoming presentation of a Perini Navi sailing yacht that aims to be: “as innovative today as the Maltese Falcon was 10 years ago,” referring to the shipyard’s most iconic and majestic sailing yacht.
