Increased mooring rentals and services offered to nautical tourism are the key. The importance of the Tuscan Marine Consortium
The recent approval of Marina Cala de' Medici's 2021 financial statements shows an increase in turnover and profitability of approximately €400 compared to the previous year.
This result, the company informs, reflects the expectations and strategic plans of the Board of Directors in office since last year. The impact was driven by the increase in mooring rental prices and the increase in nautical tourism services, particularly the latter, due to the activity of two major charter companies, as well as that of the resident companies, which have long chosen the Tuscan marina as their Tyrrhenian base. These companies manage to moor over 80 vessels during the summer, generating a revenue stream of approximately 10.000 tourists who embark and disembark from the port for their holidays.
The positive result is the fruit of a 10-year commitment by management to improving the marina's services, the statement explains. Investments have been made, in particular, in the professionalism of human resources, including permanent hires, and in equipment and materials. This has streamlined operations and led to a reduction in ongoing costs. The qualified staff present year-round during the season are primarily engaged in port and mooring management, while in the winter they handle service and building renovations of the port infrastructure and the commercial district.
The meeting also reviewed the port's extraordinary maintenance: authorization for the dredging of the northern section of the port entrance has been received from the Tuscany Region, allowing work to begin. Furthermore, the replacement of 161 overhead shutters on the breakwater garages, damaged by salt water and weather, will soon begin, thanks to the completion of the tender process and the awarding of the contract to the Pontedera-based company Martinelli. Finally, the renovation of the first two blocks of the five restroom facilities at Porto Cala de' Medici, dating back to the first construction phase of 1999-2003, is also underway. The project includes energy-saving architectural solutions with natural lighting and ventilation, and the use of eco-sustainable materials resistant to salt water.

This is especially true for developing the regional boating industry in an increasingly international, technologically advanced market. The board of directors immediately got to work with a newfound serenity and a renewed vision of intent and objectives. Therefore, following last year's discussion, the governance is even more authoritative and strong in managing and representing port issues to all regional and national institutional bodies."
