Christian Grande DesignWorks presents the new hydrogen-powered catamaran
For this new boat, "the owner is not willing to compromise on sustainability."

Genoa - During the session entitled “When refitting becomes green” at the Sea You event underway at Marina Genova, the architecture firm Christian Grande DesignWorks presented some recent refit examples (Blohm+Voss Grand Ocean and Picchio Boat) but also took the opportunity to present the project for a new hydrogen-powered catamaran dubbed SSY.
Jean Marc Janssen spoke about it, explaining that the work began "inspired by a manta ray that sails silently and elegantly in the sea." Ssy stands for Swiss Sustainable Yacht and it is a new concept of 100% green catamaran where hydrogen is generated by an electrolysis process and is therefore completely sustainable from an eco-compatibility point of view.
“In a year and a half the boat will be in the water,” explained Jean Marc Janssen, specifying, on the sidelines of the round table, that the construction will actually take place in a British shipyard on behalf of an entrepreneur who is particularly attentive to the issue of sustainability, also because “he has a company that operates in the environmental remediation sector.”
Among the distinctive materials used on board will be "recycled leather, regenerated fabrics for the cushions, and varnished cork for the bathrooms." For this new vessel, "the owner is not willing to compromise on sustainability."
