Stb Italia: "The majority of claims stem from collisions and groundings at sea."
The Genoese consultancy firm emphasizes in its 2021 report that the 'damage caused by bad weather' has been significantly reduced due to the better weather conditions.

Stb Italia, a Geneva-based company specializing in technical consultancy and expert services for the shipbuilding and yacht sectors, has just published its 2021 marine accident analysis.
This is a report of the claims entrusted to the company by various counterparties (especially insurance companies but not only) during the past year which "generally speaking does not show major differences with previous years with the exception of 'bad weather damage' which was significantly reduced due to better weather conditions" according to what the Geneva company explains.
Here are some other brief notes from Stb Italia: "i. Losses resulting from collisions and groundings at sea remain by far the predominant factor; ii. Losses resulting from sinkings and fires have significantly decreased; iii. Engine damage, lightning strikes, and thefts remain stable."
In the nautical sector, during 2021, Stb carried out 146 evaluations, 413 consultations for loading and unloading yachts and 43 visits for purchases.
